In person Support Groups or Sponsors

I attended a AA meeting today with a relative whos in recovery. Was dreaming if a similar support group exists in my home town (Atlanta) or any major city? Would be great to have those who have recovered from Benzo wd to get me through this (ie group discussions, sponsors to call when it gets brutal, etc)

I agree.  It would be so helpful to be able to meet in person with people who have already recovered from benzo withdrawal.

If you are looking for an AA meeting in your area just Google AA meetings in ...... Sometimes the attendees have various drugs as well as alcohol problems. There are also support groups for others who are just looking for support regarding the discontinuation of psychiatric medications. These meetings are a little more difficult to find but believe me if there is one in your neighbor hood, AA'ers will know. Heroin addicts who withdraw using methadone will often take benzos with the methadone (apparently it can give you a "Heroin like" high. So these people often find themselves in some dilemma. Best of healing to you...you have made an excellent choice to come of benzos. it may be difficult for a while but so worth the struggle!!

I have considered na meetings. I have went to aa meetings with a friend. They are very supportive. Unfortunately

I dont know of any for benzodiazipines.
