If yes how long did you wait before cut.  If not what happended.

It's pass time for me to cut and most benzo w/d are gone I think (it's hard sometimes to tell what's what) but I feel yucky still from the cold.

I've cut while under the weather. No way I would delay a cut, it's a long enough process so me having a cold is just one more obstacle in this blissful journey!!!

Yes, I got a really bad cold during my taper and again afterwards.

For the first one, I thought I'd take a Sudafed and soldier on. Big mistake. I had electric sensations all over my body and a ton of brain zaps. Felt like I was being electrocuted.

So I decided to just take some sick leave and stay in bed until it was over.

The second cold, I used China Oel, which is a very strong pure peppermint oil. I used the inhaler as well as making tea. It really helped with the congestion. I also had to stay home from work, though, because I was so sick.

Please be careful if you use cold medicine. Stupid me, I thought I'd pop a pill and head into work. When will I ever learn.

Mindseeker:  Thank you.  I will sure stay away from Sudafed and any other cold meds.  The peppermint oil sounds good.  Have to see if I can find it.

Ruger  Thanks Ruger.  Did you have a cold?  What happened when you cut then.  Any worse than other cuts?

Anybody Else?

jth, yes, I've had a cold and also a flu bug but that could of been withdrawl related, hard to tell. But with the cold, I did not take anything other than Halls cough drops and peppermint tea with honey.

I try to avoid taking any type of medication, prescribed or over the counter. I would rather lay in bed until the cold passes, rather than chancing some paradoxical reaction during the taper.

All the best.  :)

Yes I held till my cold was gone.  I also took Benadryl.  It helped with the sneezing and runny nose, and also helped me to sleep better.

I only took one pill at a time, which I think was 25 mg.

I got a severe cold with ear infection on the 12 of this month and I cut on the 13th. No withdrawal sx but high temperature, pain, coughing a lot...last friday I went to see my Dr since my ear infection decreased a lot my ability of hearing and he prescribed an antibiotic levofloxacin and I also got a syrup,Ambroxol, for my coughing, stupid of me and my Dr!!! I got very anxious last night and almost not sleep...horrible Day at work today as well, so anxious that I actually could not concentrate, In the afternoon I was much better, and better now.

In my case no problem with my cut, just for the medications...I stopped every med! Even I am coughing a lot and still deaf! :-[

Thanks Clona21 and Disney Girl

Sounds like another endorsement for no cold meds except benadryl.  I think I'll give it one more day.

Rugar I dug in my cabinet and found some mint tea which was very nice.  Still gotta look for the peppermint oil MindSeeker recommended.  Sounds like a nice thing to have on hand anyway.

Glad the tea helped. Yes peppermint oil is handy to have around. Works great for nausea and burning mouth too. I just read your blog and you are doing a great job, coming to the end soon

You mentioned in one of your blog posts that you may stop taking Lexapro. Just wondering if you stopped or did Dr. keep you on it?

Keep well,

Ruger

Thanks Ruger58

I stopped the Lexapro after 5 days.  It gave me akathisia.  Was taking a very small amt so didn't cause problems when I stopped.  My depression was horrible on a few cuts but never lasted more than a day that was really bad.  As I've  gotten lower when it comes it's mild so it wasn't worth it to me to tough out the akathisia.  Also I didn't have depression before I took the benzo just during withdrawal.

I held another night (well took just a beanzie cut don't know how much - just one little  click on syringe of compounded liquid) and sleep through the night 8 hrs no wakeups and feel much better today.  So feel it was the right thing not to do much of a cut til I felt better.
