Irrational fears about diabetes?

Ok guys, is this even possible? I have not been able to eat right since June due to difficulty swallowing. I can eat some solid foods, but nothing big, certainly no chunks of meat or anything like that. I have had a swallow study, ultrasound, all the usuals and all have come back normal. For breakfast I make a shake of fruit and veggies and Greek yogurt so since I have started that my bloodwork has come back better than ever. Here is the problem. Since I can't eat full meals, takes about an hour to get a sandwich down for instance, it seems like I'm hungry about every 4 hours or so and if I don't eat when my stomach starts rumbling my sugar will drop. It has only gotten bad a time or two but still scary enough and always feel bad for the rest of the day. I'm scared I'm going to start developing diabetes since the majority of my diet is carbs and potatoes mostly at that just because they are easier to swallow. Also terrified my sugar will drop in my sleep and I won't wake up. Am I crazy? I have also gained a few pounds due to all the carbs and shakes I'm drinking. Has anyone ever been know to develop diabetes because of this mess. I also eat as much as possible and drink a protein shake before bed just for peace of mind I guess. Can anyone offer any kind of feedback?

HI JENNIFERR,

I'M SORRY YOU ARE FEELING THIS FEAR.

I DEVELOPED AN IRRATIONAL FEAR OF DIABETES IN THE BEGINNING OF MY TAPER.  I CONSTANTLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND CONSTANTLY CHECKED MY SUGAR LEVEL...I DO NOT HAVE DIABETES; HOWEVER, I DO AT TIMES HAVE AN ELEVATED COUNT.

I FOUND OUT THAT BENZOD'S CAN CAUSE AN ELEVATED BLOOD SUGAR, CHOLESTROL, TRIGLICERIDES, CORTISOL, AND BLOOD PRESSURE.  ONCE WE GET TO A LOWER DOSE OR GET OFF THE DRUG ALL TOGETHER...ALL OF THESE LEVELS SHOULD IMPROVE.

I THINK ITS GOOD THAT YOU ARE DRINKING A PROTEIN SHAKE.

I USE THE PROTEIN POWDER CALLED "RAW" I REALLY LIKE IT, AND I DRINK A LOT OF ICE COLD WATER WHICH HELPS FLUCH YOUR SYSTEM.

I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU?  I THINK YOU WILL BE FINE.  BENZOS JUST LOVE TO FREAK US OUT....DON'T THEY :)

BEST OF LUCK,

FLUTER :)
