Hi everybody!

I want to share with you the story of one friend. He tried in one center to detox, but the result was a bad one. Today I've heard that he went to another detox center. He stays there isolated, he can receive or make phone calls just one time per day. He's there for 1.5 month. Is this method normal??? Once I was offered to stay in the same center but I was afraid of their methods+ it is a very expensive one + I ha d the feeling that it is a jail not a hospital. What do you think about such centers?

I went to rehab and I was only allowed a few phone calls per week.  They really don't want you talking to your friends too much because you're supposed to be focusing on yourself.  I don't recommend rehab personally, but in my case I did not have a choice and do not regret my decision.  I was there 30 days but it takes much longer than that to recover because you're taken off CT and that is brutal.  i wish your friend all the best.  This is not easy.

Take care...

As your friend for the name of the facility. From there you can find out it they have any month and half long programs for detoxing off benzodiazepines. I know the three times I have been in detox I could make and receive calls, and was not isolated in the least as there were people to hang out with and even groups to go to. It sounds a bit unusual.....

What is he actually detoxing from? You don't say if it's a benzo or something else.

Detox/rehab centres are not the right place for benzo tapering because they don't/can't offer the length of time needed for tapering. They are also very expensive, and when money's involved that becomes the focus, rather than the welfare of the patient.

Tapering a benzo can be done in the comfort of your own home and it doesn't need to be horrific. It all just depends on how you go about it.

For you personally, on 2.5mg diazepam, I would suggest doing a daily taper. That will be a much gentler way of tapering off a very low dose.

Ps..... are you still on the 0.5mg of rivotril? If so, perhaps you could consider crossing over to diazepam, and then you will only have 1 benzo to taper from ....... 0.5mg rivotril = 10mg valium.
