Please Explain The Difference Between Paradoxial and Withdrawal

[Tr...]

Recommended Posts

How can you tell if your symptoms are paradoxal or from withdrawal?  I'm dosing twice a day once ever 12 hours for about 4 to 5 hours I feel ok, then slowly sx start up and last until my next dose.  When I take my evening dose it takes about an hour and a half to kick in and lasts about 4 to 5 hours.

Not sure why this is.  Any insight would be helpful.

Thank you,

Sounds like withdrawal. .50 mg to .428 is 14% cut. That's a lot. You may be feeling delayed reaction from that. Not sure of your timeline. Klonopin is long acting so takes awhile sometimes to feel the effects of taper amount. Consider smaller cuts. You may also want to consider taking K three times a day, dividing the dose in thee if that phenomenon keeps up. The calming effect can become paradoxically agitating during withdrawal but that's not typically what paradoxical means outside of withdrawal. Paradoxical reactions  are the opposite of the intended effect and typically happen within days to sometimes weeks after taking. Don't know why, but I could never take Xanax ER—jacked me up right away, as did Benydryl. That's paradoxical.

Bennie,

Thank you for your reply.  I've been tapering since Sept.  My current cut was from.440 mg to .428mg.  Two weeks ago.  Which I think is 2.80%.  That was a good suggestion about dosing 3 times a day.  I need to update my sig.

And, I've taken Benedryl years ago and it made me jittery, not calming at all.  Now I understand what the term means.

Really Appreciate your help.  Thank you.

I did the math for you and you made a 2.7 % cut. I have no idea why you are feeling this way. Me, I dose 4X a day, so I have no I/d w/d. I think the 3x a day suggestion is a good one. Bets

Glad someone can do the math for you! Thanks, Bets

Good luck Trying2bMe!

I couldn't do it before but someone on BB helped me. The math is easy. You take the amount that you are cutting, divide it by your current dose, multiply it by 100 and there! You have your answer.
