Anyone else taking Suboxone?

It's used for opiate replacement therapy but works in small doses, off label, as an anti-depressant. Just trying to figure out why my taper seems to be so much easier than everyone else's. I have a hunch most people here, if they are really as sick as they say, had issues prior to benzos. I've ct'd Xanax before and it was awful but I healed. Then I went back on and am now tapering off but don't have near the problems as everyone else here.

You feel good because you are taking an opioid.

You only get prescribed suboxone for depression if you have a comorbid opioid addiction.  Or a VERY liberal psychiatrist who is not worried about getting sued.

Be careful.

Opiods are gaba agonists. Can't very well have an addiction to a tranquilizer and a stimulant. And I've come off benzos with no issues before. This time was different.

Sorry not  following you. I'll admit that oxycodone can be a bit stimulating compared to other opiates but it's not even  close to being a true stimulant.

I've never taking  suboxone but I did use (and still do) pregabalin, kratom, tramadol and other opioids both  during my taper and afterwards  and like you my w/d was pretty easy...at least by benzo standards.

Doesn't need to stimulate, just has to have the opposite effect on the brain. And of course you feel good. You are reversing the effects of the benzos through gaba agonists...

I've been on it for 7 years, almost as long as benzos. It was prescribed as opiate replacement therapy, I was addicted to heroin and then methadone. It is a combination of 2 drugs, Bupenorphine (partial opioid agonist) and naloxone (opioid antagonist).

I've heard of it being prescribed off label for depression but it is mainly used as ORT.

Why would this be a bad thing? Feeling good? The drug does not get me 'high', as it contains an opioid antagonist... I just feel normal.

I get mild symptoms as I taper but nothing even close to keeping me home from work. I actually feel better the lower I go on Valium. When I was taking Xanax it was another story but since I switched to Valium the only ill effects I've had from 40 down to 5mgs is extra anxiety but I've always been anxious so I consider it as getting closer to my true self, if that makes sense.

I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to all that technical stuff I don't know shit however if you are reversing the effects that  benzos  cause then it seems like a  positive to me. Still doesn't answer the "Can't very well have an addiction to a tranquilizer and a stimulant" when an opioid/opiate isn't a stimulant but a CNS depressant.

Ok, this makes sense now, i was under the impression that this was prescribed to you as an anti-depressant.

I'm glad it's working so well for you.

Good luck!

That's really rich! Spitting on those of us who don't even know the half of other drugs that might ease the process when she's on one herself.

Lol...it doesn't always work that smoothly. You need to calm down. I just think funkills doesn't have issues with getting off benzos. Suboxone may or may not help. I'm not a doctor. So I don't know. Nobody does. Its all individual brain chemistry.

Pardon me, I'm confused.  By using the suboxone she is covering up the symptoms of her w/d.  In the long run won't that be a mistake and if she stops taking the suboxone the symptoms will appear.  Of course I am probably why off but I'm trying to understand

Suboxone is an opioid. Opioids are gaba agonists. Meaning they can upregulate GABA. Not true for everyone, as seen in the ginkgo experiment. But certainly possible.

Is it against forum rules to comment on my own post to get it back to the top to see if anyone responds? Still looking for any other Suboxone users...
