Everything, from my job to simply typing this introduction, is extremely difficult because of my emotional instability. No one really understands. A few people try to understand my torment, and while I realize that they could not understand the depths of this pain, it is still frustrating and exhausting to be so alone. The posts on this site have kept me afloat in the mornings and the afternoons after work and during those moments where I'm not sure if I can maintain. I have been on 2mg of klonopin for 6 years. Since August, I have managed to taper to .25mg a day, which might have been too fast, but I'm managing, and I want this destructive chemical out of my mind. I joined benzobuddies to learn, to sympathize, to avoid feeling alone, and maybe, to help my fellow sufferers as we pull free of these bindings and then escape into the lives we were meant to have. Your stories have helped sustain me, so the least I can do is join this site.

Hi, GetUp.

Welcome to benzobuddies. Glad you found us.  :)

You will find a lot of information and support here.  Yes, I'm thinking going from 2 mg to .25 mg in 3 months may have been a bit too fast. I also tapered too quickly because I hadn't found this site. You may wish to hold and stabilize before reducing again.

A good resource about benzodiazepines is the Ashton Manual. Here is a link to the manual: Professor Ashtons Manual  It’s great for learning about these meds and for taper plans. Ashton recommends reducing between 5 - 10% every 10/14 days.

You'll find a great community of people here who will support and encourage you. Feel free to check out the forum and to post to any of the dedicated boards.

In addition to the Ashton Manual, here are some other resources:

For tapering advice, post here: General Taper Plans

For support with any symptoms you may have, post here: Withdrawal Support

Please add a signature (history of medication/doses etc). It will help members give you relevant advice. This link will show you how to Create a signature

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hello GetUp,

Welcome to the forum from me too  :)

Congratulations on your taper so far! Your taper rate is rather fast, much quicker than what is recommended. It might be an idea to slow down your taper rate here as the lower doses can be more challenging for many members, I know they were for me. Tapering slowly is advised to ensure that the withdrawal effects are kept to a minimum.

I'm glad you finally decided to join in here, you'll be given plenty of support from folks who completely understand what you're going through.

I wish you success with the taper.

Debbie

hi getup nice name

I quit xanax 2 months + 2 days ago . in comparison to klonopin im sure sure how strong it is in mg . i used .50 mg xanax pills i cut into 8 pieces at the very end taking 0.0625 mg at the end i regret not cutting it smaller using a water taper and i couldve quit from 0.0350 because after 2 months +2 days without xanax i feel awefull sometimes.

activating as much as possible has gotton me through my worst days if you feel really bad i strongly suggest going for a 5 minute walk i also recommend wearing sunglasses indoors since you'll be sensitve to lights sunglasses with amber colored lenses from the $1 dollar tree work best for me. chamomille tea worked very well for withdrawals for me so does vitamins b6 b12 b7 b complex and magnesium i also take vitamin E for another reason to help avoid seizures since im seizure prone . i also like to ceat a small piece of parsley & corriander each day the parsley can help heal your nervous system source : http://www.care2.com/greenliving/7-surprising-health-benefits-of-parsley.html

and the corriander (cilantro) helps as a anti convulsant i strongly suggest eating a small piece of that since tapering / quiting a benzo drug makes you body at risk of having a seizure.

try to limit your sugar and tobacco smoking (if you smoke) both of those are stimulants and they can make your withdrawals worsen  .

i really hope this helps you GetUP, its really nice to meet you and have you here with us

Katie  (babyangel )
