hair loss ...uh regrowth?

I have in fact heard of hair loss being one sx of benzo w/d

but does it grow back?

I mean I am beyond insecure because of this.  :-[

I always wear hats .

Is there any way you could get that hair to grow back, while tapering or is it when you complete your taper

that you'll begin to see results.

oh & any supplements or foods that help with this??

I know hydrating yourself, & exercise...along with a stress-free lifestyle are also factors in helping your hair grow .

Hi,

Many people have reported temporary hair loss during acute withdrawal or tapering.  They also say it grows back.  I had it, and yes, it grew back eventually.  I noticed the problem at about four months off but by 8 months off the regrowth was obvious.  It's back to normal now.  It's just temporary.

Early in withdrawal, I had all my hair cut off in a Pixie. Oh dear. I looked just like Jamie Lee Curtis, except Im short. My hair just wouldn't grow. A year ago, feeling a bit better, I ordered some expensive shampoo and conditioner that claims it makes your hair grow faster (duh). Well, it seems to have worked. My hair has been growing almost an inch a month, and it looks healthy. I don't want to post its name publicly, because its only sold by one company, but if youre interested drop me a PM.

I also tried another one I found at the drugstore. Used it for 3 months and it didn't work.

I honestly think that just healing from the benzo made a lot of difference in my hairs growth and texture...maybe it wasn't the shampoo/conditioner. I don't know but I really like using the expensive stuff!

I'm tapering and at the beginning i noticed a lot of hair loss. I'm almost at stage 10 of program 6 (clonazepam) and I've noticed recently along my forehead and the natural part of my hair short baby hairs sticking up. I suppose that's regrowth. I sure hope so!

I have gone through several withdrawals. During the first one my hair fell out in huge clumps. I hate to shower and dreaded combing my hair. The one thing I had in my favor is that I started out with super thick hair. About a half of a year later it started to grow again. It is now as thick as can be, which I think is a great thing at 55 years old. I have seen this topic come up before and have heard others who had the same experience. So as awful as it is, and I know it is REALLY awful. It will grow back.

Yeah lol I have seen this topic too, but ugh it's frustrating & I guess I was venting.  I should've put this on my buddy blog. But, yes it completely sucks.

Ive been watching hair fall out for months and months. I think it grows back immediately though because now i am noticing very short hairs falling out. That must mean they are growing, its not good the shorts ones fall out also, but at least its growing.

Are you all serious? I had no idea this could happen. Does it make your hair weaker, like easily breakable or do they simply fall out?

Another reason/excuse why I shouldn't even think of going off benzos.......... Love my hair too much.

Mine will regrow and then fall back out. It's very annoying and makes me self conscious. I wish it would just stay nice and thick. I'm sure it will come back in time. I also wear hats.

I lost about 1/3 of my hair, which started falling out soon after I jumped. I've been utterly exhausted and bedridden in withdrawal so I only shower once a week, during which time I'd consistently comb out excessive amounts of hair.

About a month ago (around 18 months off) I noticed that when I do my weekly combing, detangling and washing, I am no longer losing extra hair. I am once again shedding very little hair like a normal, healthy person would. It's awesome. I had very thick hair to begin with so I wasn't too disturbed by the loss, but it's still great to know that my body is getting healthier and my hair is responding. My nails are also looking much better (they became very disfigured after I jumped... really wavy like corrugated cardboard, and dented).

Now I'm waiting for the patch of hair that turned white to start growing back as my normal color.... it's possible, right? I'm guessing it was the trauma of acute that caused some of my hair to turn white (it happened overnight - pure white from root to tip).

Even benzo use will eventually cause hair loss.

It might, in some people but certainly it's not the case for everyone. No offense but that's a claim without any evidence behind it. Some people experiencing hair loss may immediately attribute it to benzos, even though there is a different cause for it, e.g. genetics.

Same problem here.  My hair has gotten thinner with age, but since being off Klonopin it has been falling out at about triple the former rate.  I don't believe it's a coincidence.  I just hope and assume it will thicken up a bit at the same time the other symptoms go away.

About half my hair fell out when I was in Valium withdrawal . It grew back but has been falling out now that I'm in klonipin withdrawal. I'm not worried because it grew back last time I went through this .        So take heart!! It will grow back.
