2 Years Xanax Free Finally Joining - former Read-only member Success Story

I've been a read-only member, too self-conscious to put my thoughts in writing, but would like to share my success story.  I know the success stories kept me going when I recognized my benzo tolerance symptoms, and everyone's input saved my life and sanity while going through my taper, withdrawal, and recovery.  I hope it's not too late to share as I'm finally mentally capable of communicating again.  Thank you all for supporting this site and having the strength to share your experiences and I hope my success story will be of help.

Hi, Freida7.

I can't turn down a success story! Please, post one for us.  :)

I'm going to give you some links for your own information, even though you've already successfully come off. And congratulations!

For information about benzos and withdrawing, Professor Ashtons Manual is the best resource available.

To post advice and ask questions, please visit: Post-withdrawal Recovery Support

Let us know more about what benzo(s) you were on, how long you were on them, and how you're feeling now. I'm so glad you decided to formally join and share some good news.

And here's the link where you can post that success story: Success Stories

Please add a signature (history of medication/doses etc). It will help members give you relevant advice. This link will show you how to Create a signature

Hi!  I've been a read-only member of BB and so sorry I didn't participate here.  I just wasn't able to express myself.  I didn't even realize the effect the meds were having on my personality and life until I was deep into tolerance withdrawal.  For me, by then, I was too much of a neurotic mess to communicate verbally, much less in writing.  I was on Xanax .25mg-1.00mg for 6 years, Prozac 10mg-20mg for 12 years, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg for 4 years.  I would have never known why I was feeling so crazy if it weren't for BB.  I turned the corner on the myriad symptoms 6 months ago and am mostly recovered now and I'm still working on just letting go of the last bit of resentment.  In my few visits to NA, someone said that there is more to recovery than just abstinence, and I think that's so true.  Finding Benzo Buddies literally saved my life.  Having someone understand the symptoms was an incredible relief, and I am so grateful to you all!  I've read multitudes of success stories, coping strategies, and messages of hope here, and don't know what I would have done without BB.  Thank you all!!!  I'm almost ready to post my success story if I can ever get it under 4 pages long.  :)

Hi, Freida7! I agree - there is sooo much more to recovery than just abstinence. I'm very happy you're doing well and I look forward to reading your success story.

And if it's longer than 4 pages, even better. More to read and an awesome distraction.  :smitten:
