My boyfriend and I are having a bit of a rough patch and I am feeling super anxious.  I want to just take a rescue dose to be able to deal with this situation rationally without my anxiety in the way!!  I don't know what to do would a rescue dose hurt me too much to risk it???

The point of going off be zos is to learn how to deal with anxiety without resorting to a pill. Since you are still on benzos (I think?) Just deep breathe, drink some chamomile tea, and try not to let the situation overwhelm you. Its just anxiety. It won't kill you. Talk to a friend if you need to :) Or watch a funny movie.

I know. Its awful. Everything is blown out of proportion in withdrawal. It sucks. :(

Thanks... so far I have managed to avoid taking it, but I told myself it's there if I get really desperate.  But you are right - the point of getting off of benzos is learning to deal with anxiety in life without them.

And if you can handle benzo withdrawal anxiety, anything outside of it will be a BREEZE! :)

I can understand how you're feeling. Recently I wanted to take rescue doses twice because the anxiety was so bad. I know it's from w/d because it hit out of the blue very suddenly. It lasted for awhile, and the only thing that stopped me was that I didn't have any more pills left and wasn't at a critical enough point to go to the ER, although it felt as if I was right on the edge. I ended up watching TV for hours, trying to distract myself. The anxiety finally passed.

This is all very rough to go through. If you can possibly do it, go without the rescue dose. The anxiety will pass in time, and I think you'll feel better in the long run for not taking it.

emotionshateme ... I have gone to the "rescue dose" place many times during recovery ... and each time I was able to not use it ... and the bottom line for me was that I chose to come off this drug because it was harming me ... and, as others have said, I needed to learn to live my life without it ...

It is a struggle, and we each find our own way through this ...

For me "the rescue dose scenario" was helpful ... I learned that I could get through whatever was going on in the moment without taking it ... and each time I felt more confident afterward ... and, whatever you do, you are doing well ...

We found the strength to get off the drug ... and will find the strength to stay off the drug ... one day at a time ...

:)

Thank you all.  I ended up NOT taking it... and I am feeling much better today and proud for not turning to it.  I can never tell what is my normal anxiety and what is the withdrawal.  I was originally given it for a panic disorder, but that panic disorder started when I tried to take myself off Celexa.  I realize now that there is a withdrawal period in stopping an SSRI and I didn't know that originally... I should have given myself more time...

Hi. Will try to make my experience with this readable and brief.

Two years ago this April, I had been off about a month, on a neurontin cushion. My then-roommate threatened me with eviction, and I flipped out. Was trying to get out of the house before she returned from work; discovered I'd lost my keys; wound up taking a fragment of Klonopin, about......less than half 0.25 mg., i think, in order to find the keys and leave, on a dead-cold day, b/c I was entirely unable to deal with her anger.

I had been taking fragments on a weekly/biweekly basis, so the stuff was out of my system. And I *did*, and do, have the neurontin on board, so our situations are different in that way. A lot of folks here would disagree with me, but I believe that the neurontin has saved me from another agoraphobic, broke-azz flipout. it's enabled me to work some. Now, it may be time to downphase it. However, I have no idea how to do this.

I can't and won't try to advise you any further, but you can pm me if you like, and when I can get to a computer, I'd be glad to correspond.  peace and luck. (Prayer, to whom/whatever, never hurt a thing. Focuses the mind, at the least.)
