Some people report feeling amazing after exercise. But, it was rough the first few times. Could be good, PK! I wish I could exercise, but the breathing issues are still pestering me :( Heh.

The feelings of not wanting to exercise are common, but you can do something about it.  A walk around the block is a lot healthier than sitting around having feelings of guilt.  I do appreciate that you are having a lot of anxious feelings, so you're just going to have to will yourself to do this (everyday)!

This is one of those times when I think the 'fake it til you make it' attitude works.

PK,

I think it's easy to get and stay unmotivated if you don't exercise at all. You don't necessarily have to run. If you can force yourself somehow for 7 straight days, I bet you will get into it. You're not in school this semester, right? Hopefully you should have the time? Just force it i to your schedule, even if it's for 15-20 mins. It will help with depression. I think it s wrong that pdocs, at least any I have seen, don't recommend exercise. I bet there must be studies that show exercise is just as effective as placebo for ADs. Docs will always choose an AD as first line of defense. I guess they have no choice.

Yep, there's even a study showing that exercise is BETTER than AD's:

Study: Exercise Has Long-Lasting Effect on Depression.

I'm not able to run right now, but I'm able to walk and do gentle yoga. It's really helping because my muscles were getting really tight after I jumped and the yoga took care of that problem.

Often, deep in our hearts, we know the answers.  Ditto what everyone else has said.  Start slowly, set goals and keep building it up.  The first try is the hardest, but once accomplished you'll feel so much better both physically and emotionally!  Go for it, PK!  How's tomorrow?!   And you can come back and give us a progress report.  Imagine me in your head as a cheerleader!  :-\

If abcd is the head cheerleader, I will sign up for co-head. Do you think you can do it tomorrow?

I am thinking about signing up for a running club as well for some social contact. Some of their post run activities involve drinking but I can just say I'm laying off for a while. Maybe I'll just mention the truth about benzo wd-- what do I have to lose?

Anyway, I think you'll be able to do it tmrw.

why is it so hard for me? am i that lazy? i dont get it..

Do you have a lot of fatigue? The type of fatigue created by withdrawal makes it very, very difficult. Has nothing to do with being lazy. It's your body and mind being altered by medication. I feel like I'm moving in quicksand all the time.

ty guys for all the kind words of motivation

im going to try, but its sososo hard that i think im going to fail..

No such thing as "fail"! Look at it as practicing. One never fails when they're practicing. Even just put on your running shoes today and venture out for 5 mins. What a great start that will be! 5 mins turns into 10, turns into 15, etc. The first time is always the hardest. Can you practice conquering that first time today?

Rah rah, go team PK! :clap::yippee::thumbsup:

That's okay, PK. Be gentle and forgiving with yourself. We'll try again tomorrow, okay? Even if you just put on your running shoes and exercise clothes and don't leave the house!   How about that?  Then you'll have 'em on all ready to go, for whenever you get that little spark of motivation!

Try again tomorrow, that's all you have to do!

Pity - exercise could start as easy as making a few extra walks around your home/apartment during the day.  You don't have to begin with a walk around the block.  I was cycling 2200 miles a year when I jumped.  My body demanded exercise even after I jumped.  You're not starting from that place.  Just do something extra each day and try to build on it each day (10 extra steps around the living room is a positive trend).

Abcd cheerleader checking in!  Today's the day, PK.  Assuming you'd won a million dollars, but in order to collect, you had to first get out of the house and walk around the block once today.  Would you have it in you?  Now imagine you're being offered a chance to turn your life around, do you have it in you!  Heck, YEA, YOU DO!

Rah, rah, rah, go, go, go Team PK!  Prufrock, where are you?

Yea, it's hard, PK.  Been there, buddy, it's beyond hard - especially the first time.  Can you take a friend with you, even if it's only on the phone.

Benzo brain, can't remember whether I'd given you this link to audios on panic/depression by Dr Claire Weekes.  Extremely powerful!  (Scroll down).
