I am switching from Cymbalta 50mg over to Remeron 30mg

I was put on Cymbalta for anxiety over 7 years ago.  Then, after being on it for 2 years and starting to feel anxious again, my Psychiatrist added the 2mg of Xanax.  That's how this journey all started  :)

No I'm 6 months free of Xanax.  I'd tapered down to 50mg Cymbalta while I was weaning off the Xanax.  My new Psychiatrist and other experts I've been blessed to consult with believe that the Cymbalta is causing some of the anxiety.  I'd heard in here that Remeron works well for many.  I also have a friend who's a month behind me in Xanax withdrawal.  She said it helped her.

This is day 4 of lowering my Cymbalta from 50mg to 40mg and adding 15mg of Remeron.  After a week or more, she wants me to lower to 30mg Cymbalta and go up to 30mg of Remeron.

Any opinions (without scaring me, please!) would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I had sudden onset severe GAD.  I took diazepam, Zoloft, buspar, Geodon, lorzapam, probably some other, with itle or no success.

My pdoc finally suggested remeron.  It literally saved my life.  Took 22.5-30 mg/day for almost 3 years, no significant side fxs.  When I discontinued, I did a 2 week taper, then off, no wd sxs at all.

A wonderful anxiety med, IMO.
