Up to now, I have had little trouble sleeping other than a few months ago when I was having really bad symptoms. I now have very minimul symptoms with no anxiety which I am so grateful for!

But this week I started to have some insomnia and last night I woke up at about 1:00 am -2:00 am, can't remember, and took 50 mg of Benadryl that I had in my cabinit. I slept fine for the rest of the night.

This has been happening for 3-4 nights now.

But this morning I kind of freaked out, becuase I was and still am really worried that I may start developing insomnia.

I heard that insomnia can be a symptom that can pop up for a few days after a cut then return to regular sleep after a few days to a week? Should I try to sleep for a few days without any sleep aids to see if it returns to normal? I think I may not be able to sleep just becuase a lot of thoughts, not so much becuase of a symptom? Most likely a combination of both.

I was really freaking out this morning ( started to panic) , but I should expect some ok weeks, tolerable and rough ones.

I don't have any advice bc I haven't slept well in over 4 yrs. Not at all on my taper. But there is also an insomnia board you could read through for more info. Lots of info on there as insomnia is a major wd syx coming off benzos.

Benzo girl said that it is a symptom that can creap up after a cut and then subside after a few days to a week, so that gives me some assurance.

A similiar topic I posted was moved to other meds where she responded.

I think it's best just to try not to panic and hope my sleep improves.

I would imagine if I hold longer that it would eventually improve. I have read others write that slowing down helps with insomnia too.

My next cut is not my night one, so I should be ok with my next cut and it will give me another week to get use to the reduction of my nightly cut. I had been getting at least 5-6 hours of sleep this past week, but I am use to at least 6-7. So I have been tired when usually I am not.

I started to panic and do not want to have to rely on sleeping pills.

Can I expect my sleep to return to normal after a few days?

Everyone is so diff, I guess you ll know after a few days. I don't rely on sleeping pills but then I don't sleep so it's a catch 22 sometimes. Your right about not panicking...that only makes things worse. Hopefully things will settle down for you.

I completely agree with Benzogirl I also agree that by slowing our dose we do sleep better. I did a rapid taper at the begining and I had insomnia, now that I am holding to stabilize, I feel almost normal, anxiety of course, but manageabe, functioning very well and sleeping the last 2 nights without using the herbal tablet.

I promised to myself to hold for a month at this dose...now I am not completely sure, if feeling as well as these days I may cut in 10 days.    :)

I'm with Grinch. I have not slept well in a long time. But pausing may be the way to go. My sleep always gets worse after a cut (especially a night time dose).

Hope your sleep improves and wish I could offer better advice. Melatonin, 5-htp, l-tyrosine, magnesium, vitamin D are all recommended but none works fir me. My remoron and nighttime dose gets me to sleep for 2 hours, then tossing, turning, pain and pins and needles for the rest. It sucks. Especially as I've always had insomnia - but was of the couldn't get to sleep kind not the couldn't stay asleep :(

It's nice to know someone else who is working full time. Good to hear! I think I am just thinking too much at night really. Also the time change messed with me. I just threw the benadryl away. Felt tired, hung over and with a head ache all day because of it. If I get 5-6 hours a night until it gets better I can live with that.

It has also just been for a dew days so I need to give it some time. Did buy some magnesium though and will try that out tonight.

Slept very well last night without any sleeping aids and feel very good this morning!

So I think when I cut from my nightly dose in the future I can expect a few days of less sleep, but it will then return to normal. Plus the time change didn't help much.

But feeling good right now.  :)
