New to this site, need support

Hi, my name is Vin. I have decided to join this site because I need support. I have had a Klonopin addiction since 2009, via prescription and buying them elsewhere. I stopped them cold turkey in October of last year (2013)..and my withdrawal cleared up by December. I was benzo free until April of this year (2014) then relapsed, I got them prescribed again. 1 mg twice daily.  I was taking them daily for 2 months and I stopped them cold turkey in June. I went through a horrific withdrawal, but finally felt a little better by September, able to function again. I have been benzo free since June 27. I need support because I  am still experiencing withdrawal

Hello fallenstar26. Welcome to the forum, we're glad you found us!  Congratulations on getting off klonopin.  I'm glad you're feeling somewhat better, and this bodes well for future healing.  Withdrawal symptoms can last for several months, but even so they're temporary and they will pass in time.  One warning however, going on and off benzos multiple times can lead to "kindling," which can make each successive w/d worse than the last. Here are a few links you'll find useful:

Post Withdrawal Recovery Support.

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms, and there is also a section with withdrawal/taper schedules.

Please take the time to Create a Signature.  This will allow others to see where you are in the process so they can better support you.

Again, welcome!

Hi fallenstar,

Benzos are serious buisness, if i were you i would never ever touch one again.

Third time might be hell on earth due to  kindling.  Coming off cold turkey (c/t)

is a hard journey, but don't worry you will get plenty of support now.

How do Benzos affect the brain ?

  • 4 weeks later...
welcome from me as well.  :) I did more than one withdrawal myself and the second one around can sometimes be much harder than the first. I went through more than one withdrawal myself. Finally, I am at the one year off mark and I can say that I am healed but I know I can never take another one again ever. Let us know how we can help and again welcome. It is always nice to have a new member. :)
