After my roller coaster ride of up and down dosing on valium, i have had trouble stabilizing. I tried with 15mg with no luck, and will now try with 20mg and hopefully stabilize. How will i know if i have stabilized or if i'm in tolerance withdrawal.

miriedl,

Im not sure I understand your question. I guess I would stay on the new dose long enough to feel okay, and then start tapering again. I guess I don't know your definition of "stabilizing."

Only you know your own symptoms of tolerance withdrawal...I cant know that.

I think you need to set a plan, and then really stick to it. You know by now theres no way to guarantee NO symptoms during a taper. Some people taper easily, and others not. But up and down-dosing is almost a guarantee of problems.

I had tolerance withdraws for over 6 months and thought I was sick, or my panic/anxiety were getting worse. I had never heard of it and then I found BBs and realized exactly what was going on. since my taper I am only on day 3 I feel little to no increased w/d symptoms. I am going very slow do to how long I have been on them and my dose. If you are feeling any of the symptoms listed and also feel like you are wanting to take more the your prescribed dose.

After taking benzos for a few years and now being off for over a year, I realize I was in tolerance withdrawal for a long time.  My opinion now is that if someone thinks they might be in tolerance withdrawal they most probably are.  Just my opinion from my experience.

  • 3 weeks later...

People are of several minds about this. Some just continue tapering, and learn to manage symptoms. Others choose to hold their doses until they feel "stable" and then continue. Its up to you, how you do it. I don't think holding (maintaining your dose for a while) will decrease symptoms much, but I could be wrong. Im of the school of thought to just plow on ahead, with the idea in mind that you will be healing as long as you are reducing your dose.

How do you taper while in tolerance wd? I'm scared! I think im there...don't know what to do. ..

I started my taper during tolerance withdraws and surpisingly after even just my first cut after having a rough few days aboyt day 3-4 after the cut I flt better than I have in years, same thing happened the next week. I had to stop and hold but I am a mg down and I stabilized at day 5 I still have waves, but my body having to adjust to the dose its not the same as when they up dose you it different but it's good. I am holding until I can find a doctor to help me and support me during my taper. I am scared but excited to start again.

good luck and don't be scared :smitten:
