What to do when you know that you need to get out and interact and keep distracted and busy, but so messed up and agoraphobic you dread the idea of finding anything to do outside of home?

I would pick an outing where I could still keep control over the time, so if I tweaked out I could quickly get away. Each new experience helped build on the last.

Does gradual exposure work in withdrawal? I understand that it can be very useful in normal psychological anxiety States,  but I keep telling myself that gradual exposure is futile because this is all a chemical thing.
