My Story

Hey,

Had my first panic Attack About 6 months ago.  Had no idea what was going on went through the whole doctor roulette to rule out every condition imaginable.  Was perscribed .5mg klonopin prn and prob took maybe 1 every other week the first 5 months.  They did work extreamly well!  The last 6-8 weeks my mother was convinced by one of my realitives who went through the same thing as me to start making me take the klonopin daily since he claimed it saved him.  I was extremely reluctant but really had no choice since I was living under there roof.  Frost two and half weeks were great and I felt like my old self.  Then I started noticing the more more I took it the less effective it became and I started losing motivation, hard to get out of bed, and even some

Depression.  So I want to come off it now.  Just here from some taper advice.  Like I said it's

Probably been close to 6-8 weeks of daily use while takin most weekends off or only taking maybe .25mg. Thanks

Hi Bgary530  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

Unfortunately it doesn't take long to develop a dependency to benzodiazepines. They really are only meant to take a few weeks. I think you also found out how quickly one can build up a tolerance to it. Now that you have been on them for a few months you will want to do a taper. Stopping too quickly can cause some pretty horrible symptoms. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two week.
