I mean...maybe those who have recovered or almost fully recovered can chime in. Do we ever really go back to who we were before these pills? I don't want to be a new, improved version of myself. I want the old me back.

I think you can get 99 44/100ths percent of your old self back.  I also think that this experience changes you (like any major life experience will change you).  You will be the sum of all of your life experiences, including benzo withdrawal.  I would also expect the benzo withdrawal portion to fade as you life progresses, like most of life's adventure fade over time.

I know I will be wiser and will take better care of myself LPUG and Badsocref....I have already learned better coping skills and have acquired a vast amount of knowledge regarding the brain, the med community and I no doubt have better appreciation of human kindness and compassion....have seen so much here..... I do feel like I have some PTSD from this ...so will have to work through that as well....so to answer your question LPug...no don t thing we will be " normal " again...nope nothing " marginal" about us!! :smitten::thumbsup:

Thanks Mary and sorry you're going through that with your mom too.... it seems your brothers are like mine, very frustrating.  You should join in the support group for those of us with aging parents.

LPUG, have you considered cognitive behavioral therapy?  CBT has been incredibly valuable to me as I navigate "reentry".

Yep, I'm doing it right now actually! It helps but the next day I go back to crap lol.
