Looking for a buddy during withdrawal

Dear buddies,

I'm 33 years old and have been struggeling with panick attacks for 13 years. As for the last 7 weeks I've been on Oxazepam 150mg. And I'm cutting of 5mg a day.

This gives lots of withdrawal effects amd I would lile to share and help eachother out during this time. Everybody is at work and alot of people don't understand what it is to go theought withdrawal.

Would you please like to be my buddie? Xoxo

Hello Dutch2014,

Of course we'll be happy to be your buddie, you'll get a lot of support from some very kind and caring people here on the forum.

I am not familiar with Oxazepam but it seems like you are cutting too often.  A slow and gradual taper is the best way to withdraw from these types of drugs. It can help minimize some of the symptoms you are feeling. Normally it is suggested to taper 5-10% every 10-14 days. Is there a way you can hold for a while to stabilize.

Have you looked into any type of therapy for your panic attacks, like CBT?  Also deep belly breathing and meditation can be helpful as well and don't involved taking medications.

Here are a couple of links to get you started on the forum. The first is to the Ashton Manual, an excellent reference about these types of drugs and how to withdraw, written by an expert in the field. The second link is to the General Taper Plans for additional information.  The last link is to the Anxiety board to perhaps find ways to deal with the panic.

welcome  :) I think you will find many buddies here. It sounds like you are trying to taper a bit quickly. The recommended reduction is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. In my opinion a slower taper can greatly reduce withdrawal symptoms.

I know it sounds like I'm tampering to fast, but my dosis of oxazepam had only been 150mg for one week. The previous weeks before I have been on oxazepam for 6weeks, started with 40, then 60 and then 80. The last week 150mg. So if I taper only 5% or 10% I'll be longer on oxazepam then I initially did. Also I'm on Paxil 20mg and take intensive neurofeedback to reduce withdrawal.

I do have withdrawal symptoms, panick, stress, hartrate high, intensive sweating, and lots of muscles pains, and off course not be able to sleep for long.

I'm trying to get of the drugs in another 3 weeks. How long do the withdrawal symptoms last?

And is there any chance I can chat or whatspp wirh a buddie?

It doesn't take long for dependency to develop, that is why we recommend a gradual taper.  Because of the short use time at the higher dose, you may be able to taper more quickly. How long were you on oxazepam in total?

What you are feeling is normal for withdrawal.  The good thing is that the symptoms are temporary and will ease up in time.  There is no way to tell how long withdrawal will last, because of the unique genetic make up, withdrawal times will vary.
