Acute vs Protracted

I know Acute is first and Protracted can be second if its bad enough. I was wondering if anyone who has been through it can tell me how long the Acute can last? It seems to just keep going with me.

The majority of people report acute lasting the first 90 or so days after the jump. This is when symptoms are at their worst. 10-15% of people will experience a protracted withdrawal of sorts extending the length of acute. But true protracted withdrawal, in consensus, is anything that extends beyond 18 months.

I guess the best way to look at it is like this:

Acute (~90 days) -> Post Acute (6 - 18 months HEALED)

Or in some cases:

Acute (??) -> Post-Acute (6-18 months) -> Protracted (??)

I wouldn't worry too much about protracted though.

Ok hon. Thank you. I'm at 5 months and was wondering why I still have alot of symptoms from Acute but the way you put it makes sense.

Many people still have severe symptoms at 5 months. Its not unusual. Everyone heals at their own rate, in their own way. For me it was all very slow and gradual, and I honestly didn't think I was healing at all. But - I was. What would happen is I'd suddenly realize that some symptom was just gone, and I hadn't noticed. I have learned to rejoice when I notice this stuff now!

You will get there. We cold turkey people can have it rough - but we heal all the same.

I am sorry you are feeling badly. Withdrawal symptoms from going cold turkey can be pretty rough, that is why getting off benzo in that manner is ill advised. I did it as well. It may take some of a bit longer to heal, but in the end we do. So remember, this is a temporary situation and there will be a time this is all behind us.
