i started a reduction of diazepam in august . i reduced by 3mg in august . in september and october i thought i was going mad . i thought i was dying . i was frightened to leave the house . i am not working presently and convinced myself i would never work again . the phobias i was thinking about seemed real . i have not reduced the dose since august . has anybody else expereinced these things . please help

I have experienced what your going through . These are common withdrawal sxs  and will pass . It just takes time. Its s bitch waiting out these sxs but thats really all we can do till our brains heal.

Hello,

 

On your introduction you indicated you were taking 10mg of diazepam daily and you dropped 3 mg in August. That is a huge reduction so I'm not surprised it hit you so severely.  The recommended taper rate is 5-10% every 10-14 days. I know I could not have handled a drop like that.  I think you are wise to hold for now. Diazepam has a very long half life so it may take a while for your system to settle down. Once it does, if it were me, I would taper much slower.
