any positive k stories to help me prepare?

I've been gathering my information and planning out my dates then started reading the klonopin thread and I'm a bit horrifyied! !! I'm planing on doing a slow daily milk taper that will start at 1-2 ml weekly. Im praying this will be pretty painless so I can still be the loving mom and wife my family knows. After reading most of the stories in the K thread I am worried sick!!! Has any long benzo user titrated off K with little sx and felt pretty much healed after jumping? I'm coming down from .5 k daily was on .25+ x for years before I detoxed then quickly reinstated k. Please let me know experiences during slow taper and experiences walking off...

aldo should I be trying to co to V? I've heard no but after reading k stories. .....

Hi, Momndespair. My taper was way too fast (I didn't know about the Ashton Method), so my taper was a bit bumpy.

However, at 4 months out, I can tell you I'm having windows where my memory is much, much better. I still have depersonalization, so everything seems detached.

But the memory improvement has me convinced that healing is happening. It will for you, too.

If the Klonopin thread is scaring you, stay off it. Right now your CNS is very, very sensitive. Treat it kindly and it will serve you well.

I've found that as little stimulation as possible really helps during the taper and for a few months afterwards.

You're going to do fine.  ;)

Yeah I want to stay away from there! But I'm scared because now that's the drug I'm on....wondering if dr should have reinstated valium. ...

do you mind me asking how long you were on benzos and how fast your cut was? :)

I was on various benzos for close to 30 years, along with other drugs for bipolar. I'm now down to only 25 mg of Seroquel and will come off of that sometime next year.

Here was the taper off my last benzo, which was Klonopin:

Started misguided Klonopin taper on March 28, 2014 at 2 mg.

3/28/14: 2 mg

4/11/14: 1 mg

4/16/14: .5 mg

5/05/14: .25 mg

5/23/14: .125 mg

6/12/14: .0625 mg

6/17/14:  jumped!

I do NOT advise following in my very misguided footsteps. I would really recommend 5 - 10% reductions for a much safer and comfortable withdrawal.

I appreciate your story!:) thank you...I will definitely be taking the slow and steady road I'm just hoping that stays painless! !! I don't want to sound like a baby but I can't be in benzo hell again. When I was going through tolerance withdrawal on xanaxI almost lost my whole life. Then after detox even more hell I was so worried I would have to deal with feeling like that for months which would have destroyed my family and life!! the depersonalization, vision issues, headaches, and everything else that went with it almost destroyed everything in my life. I'm really hoping somebody who has done a very slow liquid titration like I'm planning to do can tell me they've been somewhat symptoms free and walked off in little pain!!!

I was just looking at my kids today after reading all of those stories on the Klonopin thread and started to cry because I can't be on available for them again......I hope I don't sounds like a baby or anything! I'm doing very well right now but I know the road ahead and I know I have to get off these drugs eventuallyso it's going to be sooner as in this year instead of years ahead.....

I don't use titration and never did. I dry cut my pills. I was on 10 mg of K for over a decade. I did a partial C/O to valium (70 mg) and dropped very slowly ~~ 5% every two weeks~~~  and have very few minor s/x. Most of the time none at all. I am now down to 1.25 mg of K and feel fine. I think it's better if you make smaller cuts rather than waiting a longer time and making larger cuts. Let your body tell you what to do. The C/O was the best benzo decision I ever made. Good luck to you. You'll be fine. Liquid titration seems to work very well for the majority of people who take that route. I plan to do the same once I get down to 20 mg of V.

thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your story to me. So I'm a little unclear as though you are currently on valium and klonopin? or you did a full cross over to Valium? sorry I'm a bit new and didn't know what a partial crossover was. :)

You can taper from K, but I think it's best to cut by small amounts, and listen to your body, and make the next cut when you feel stable.

I'm tapering clonazepam (generic for K), very slowly, and by very small amounts, and so far doing pretty well.  Some nausea after a cut (but not after every cut), but it's manageable.

I wouldn't cross over to valium unless I needed to.  Try tapering the K, and see how it goes.

Try not to be scared.  It will be ok, and you will get off of K.

Well, if I completely C/Oed to Valium and dropped the K altogether, then I would end up being somewhere along the lines of 200 mg of Valium. 1 mg of K=20 mg V. My doctor considered it to be a very risky health problem. So I continued to drop my K per usual and then added maybe 10 mg of V or so every two months. A few times 10 mg a month. Then I stopped at 70 mg but still had more K to drop. If you read my signature, it will tell you what I am on. So yes, for most of the time, I was/am on both K and V at the same time. But now I am down to 1.25 mg of K so I am nearing the finish line there. I did not touch my Valium at all. The 70 mg remained the same. Once I am finally off the K I will wait a month for my CNS to settle down a bit and then begin my Valium taper. We were all new here at some point.  :smitten: Bets

well it's good to know that you are doing quite well with minimal symptoms. I get confidence and then I go back and read bad stories even from those I get confidence from....lol!! it scares me to see when people go through rough spots and it really scares me in the end when I'm ready to walk because I'm worried all the bad sometimes are going to come back.  it helps when I hear stories of people who have went very slowly and ease their way down and walked off virtually symptoms free.  I'm just yet to hear a lot of good stories about people taking klonopin that situation :-[

Coming off clonazepam is not a cake walk but it is doable

I was able to dry cut with success. I think you need to know what

you may experience so you can be prepared and have backup

for when and if you need it. Being the most prepared will make

your journey smoother. Distraction is the best defense against

difficult symptoms. Good Luck you will make it
