When does this torture end? Im almost 9 months out c/t Klonopin and cant tell you the last time I had a window. Cant breathe, aches and pains everywhere, feel like I have schizophrenia at times, blood pressure fluctuations, losing tons of weight and all my muscle, hairs falling out, burning skin, severe depression, extreme anxiety, cant hold a conversation with someone without feeling like im suffocating, cant sleep, ultimately hopeless and miserable. I would be content if my breathing issues left me because I've had them since day 1 and makes me think im permanently damaged. Losing hope I dont know what to do anymore.

One day,

I am reaching out to you. I am only 3 months off. Yet your post touched me as I know how it feels to be in the state your in and wanting connection and reassurance.

So I am sending you as much hope as I possibly can. Maybe the people before me who have come out will post here and provide more support for you.

I am sorry you are feeling so horrible 10 months out. Stopping cold turkey can cause severe and prolonged symptoms. I did a cold turkey myself, three of them to be exact. It can take up to a year to heal from a cold turkey withdrawal. But the good thing is that we all heal. It just takes some of us a bit longer. Hopefully things will start to get better soon.

I had similar symptoms and it was bad at 9 months.  12 months is when I saw a huge improvement.  My bp stabilized, sleep got much better, and psych symptoms greatly improved.  I didn't think I would make it but I did.

My message is that I healed and you will too.  We just don't know when.  It's so different for everyone.  It didn't feel like I was going to heal until it actually happened.  I hated it when people said "hang in there" but that's what we have to do.

You'll make it.

Hi everyone,

I did a quick taper off klonopin and am six months out. I have many of the symptoms you have as well. Constant extreme anxiety...very few windows at all...head pressure...cant sleep...hard to have conversation...very hopeless at times.  I wish I never took klonopin. A terrible drug for many of us. Hope is that time will heal.

Hi one....I had the same issue.....in the first several months and it is now gone.....please do not worry that yours is lasting longer as everyone is different in timelines.....but the breathing s/x is almost the same for everyone who suffers from it....

It will go away......m :smitten:....

Hey one day, I am 7 months off short term low dose klonopin and am having problems breathing being aware of my breathing and now I've been hyperventilating at night trying to go to sleep!! I feel so much anexity and depression from feeling like this and feeling like I have to control my breathing every second!! I felt better in month 4 than this month 6 was torture for me also!! I'm hoping this lets up for all of us very soon. Anyone else deal with this and healed now? I can't believe we got this s/x this far out I've also been dropping weight like crazy!!  :(

Thanks for your response. Its such a crazy s/x I feel so debilitated from that feeling of not being able to breath. Also, I ate a bunch of popcorn last night amd today im having some fucked up symptoms just surges of adrenaline amd feeling like my head could just seize out any second. I hope we both heal soon!!

I started to feel a bit of improvement around 12-14 months. The breathing stuff did not go away but became more tolerable. I was able to finally exercise again. I still get breathing stuff but not like what you are going through. It was pure torture my first year just gasping for air with horrible DR, muscle pain all over, etc...... All that stuff you describe. Now I am mostly uncomfortable with spikes of suffering, it is quite an improvement over the constant suffering you describe. It will get better for you, the time is getting closer. Trust me, the breathing had me completely freaked out. It will improve!

Thanks for responding! It gives me hope that im not permanently damaged and great healing is around the corner. Doyou think your breathing stuff will eventually go away?? Or will it always be there but tolerable?

With the improvement so far I think eventually it will be back to normal. Sometimes it feels closer to normal, but there are still times each day where I notice. It's not very often a struggle where I'm trying to suck the air anymore, those times are fewer. But yeah, there are times where things feel pretty good and getting closer to normal at times. Just keep going and eventually your time will come, and unlike DR or other symptoms I've noticed the breathing it can get much better very quickly. Then days later I feel a weird head pressure or squeezing and know it is getting worse again. That is always the signal that breathing problems are on the way. Very weird. Hang in there!

hey onedayata,

i also got some good healing and reprieve between the 12-14 month mark. i also had severe squeezing and breathing problems that scared me. i would have dreams about being stuck inside an astronaut's spacesuit and unable to breathe in the dream and would wake up with that sleep apnea a few times. but it has passed now and i can breathe normally and comfortably again. sometimes when the head pressure and squeezing are doing it's thing i have to gasp for breath but for the most part it's disappeared. :)

Thanks for the responses I couldn't do this on my own. I've been getting huge blood pressure fluctuations a lot lately I can just feel it drop randomly all the time and think im going to pass out and quit breathing. It feels like this stuff never ends  :(

Happy, at the moment my breathing is a lot better than when I posted this but I still get it everyday every few minutes. But I know its just withdrawal since it fluctuates and i breath normal different moments throughout the day which reassures me this too shall pass!

I hope we heal by a year out, ill have a year in january. I feel like im far from healing but I guess we never know. I've lost a ton of weight and muscle mass, which is depressing but I have hope ill regain it soon.

Fingers crossed Oneday, I will be at 12 months in February - I'm so hopeful for 2015 and that this year will be greatly forgotten :)
