I wanted to share the following link that I found last year. It was started by a bright guy named ScienceGuy from Longecity Forum whereby he discusses GABAa and GABAb agonists complete with references to clinical studies. Take care all.

http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/54028-treating-anxiety-safely-effectively/

Note: not sure if I can have this link and I didn't know how to unlink it.

I've read this before and tend to agree with mostly everything he says; however, I believe glutamate antagonists should be avoided as well, due to the possibility of further upregulating the AMPA/NMDA receptors.

Not sure what to make of it, his tapering advise is the opposite to Prof. Ashton.

short half life versa long half life.

I'd rather trust the Ashton manual. :)

wasn't aware of that, i was using magnesium as if it was the safest thing ever.

but do you think that getting magnesium from natural sources could cause that?

When you eat something from a natural source to get magnesium, i.e. a handful of walnuts, you're ingesting a balanced complex of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. There is no harm in this whatsoever; however, when you start isolating and concentrating things, like say xAmount-mg of Magnesium a day, I believe you might get into trouble. The body wasn't meant to consume Doctor's Best Magnesium on a daily basis, and save for an extreme magnesium deficiency, I believe it could be bad for benzo withdrawal. Many members on this forum have had a particularly awful time with magnesium after supplementing with it for a few weeks/months. It's my opinion that we need to leave anything that affects GABA and Glutamate be.

A lot of members had no problem with magnesium supplements and found them very helpful. It is an individual thing. Same with epsom salt baths which are also a type of supplementation which many members find helpful.

I completely agree. Some have used chamomile tea and magnesium to get through this and have completely recovered. It is a very individual thing.
