So low dose of Xanax...

Hello Buddies

I hope you all healing well

I was on alprazolam 0.5 mg for 10 years. 100 % sure this is my lifetime contract (+ ssris of course). Docs (many of them) assured me that the dose is so low that I will never got used to it nor hit tolerance. People are taking 0.5 Xanax lifelong and are doing great.

Well, I didn`t,

but never thought it is the pill.

Long story short. Last year December I had a breakdown (forth year in a row, usually lasted 2-4 weeks and lifted). Not this time. I asked my pdoc for Tranxene (clorazepate) as it did help last year (short term and always back to "beloved" Xanax).

So i got it ... in 5 mgs/day !!!!.

I was sure I increased the dose and efficiacy. "5 mgs is more than 0.5 mg" i thought, all will be good.

That was the time when all hell broke loose. Now i know i did overkill taper from 10 mg of diazepam to 3.3 overnight but back then....

Survived 9 months on my knees with the head under the bus riding back and forth, everyday. Exhaused. Falling but standing up.  Then found BB and prof Ashton. whoooow. All make sense now.

So here I am, jumped from 1.25 mg of clorazepate two weeks ago. I did a short taper - 1.25 every week, for the month. I kindled in August (2 weeks and one week break from benzo). Standing my ground, heavily depressed, scared to death but not looking back for benzo, never.

We will see how it goes.

Thanks for all support and knowledge so far. It made a huge difference, Now, I know the enemy (its name at least), and I know we all wil go thru it together.

Good healing.

Talk to you soon
