Just Curious - Hypertension

[No...]

Recommended Posts

I am almost a year out and doing well ... 4 or 5 weeks ago started feeling lousy and just wrote it off to another waltz around the floor ...

I am medicated for moderate hypertension, been completely stable for the last four years ...

Early Friday morning got a hypertension storm ... highest readings ever for me ... and got frightened ... readings were in what is called the crisis range ... went to ER ... did all the stuff ... nothing going on other than the hypertension ... settled down quite a bit, but not into my normal range ... and has stayed up for three days ...

ER says not to play with meds and let my doc work with me on it ... which I will do after we all have our Canadian Thanksgiving turkey tomorrow ...

Question ... anyone else have this experience? ... any thoughts or comments? ...

Thanks

Terry ... I can only assume it had been building for several weeks and I assigned the symptoms to just the same old stuff ... other than that I have no idea what would bring this on ... nothing else comes to mind ...

Nova, I am sorry. Did the bp settle down once you were in ER? I had a storm (also in crisis range) while at a Neurology appointment and ended up in Casualty. I chalked it up to withdrawal. What were your symptoms? My bp is up a bit for me but nowhere near that level in the hospital.

Did the ER suggest any follow up? If this happened to me, I think I would want to see a cardiologist...just to make sure. And, there are medical problems that can cause a hypertensive "storm".  But then again, it could be a withdrawal thing, or even (sigh....) age related. Wish I had an easy answer for you, but I don't. How are you feeling otherwise?

East ... no diagnosis as to "why" was made in ER ... will have to follow up with my doc ... otherwise, I have been in an unrelenting wave for about six weeks or so ... not acute by any means ... and when I get tired and start to nod off the vibrations and nerve firings show up ... same old stuff ... I certainly cannot figure out any chicken and egg thing ... and trying not to try ...
