Hi, my name is Jim and I've been reading these forums for a few months now. I decided to join mostly for information, but also to help support others as well. I started taking 0.5mg of Klonopin per night around a year ago. Currently I have tapered down to 0.25 mg per night, but I have been stuck at this dosage for a month since I started my job last month. I suppose I am lucky to have started at such a low dosage to begin with, but my withdrawal symptoms are still pretty intense.

Looking forward to talking with yall soon,

JimT

Hello JimT.  Welcome to the forum, we're glad you found us!  We generally recommend a taper rate of about 5-10% every 10-14 days.  Here are a few links you'll find useful:

General Taper Plans

Withdrawal Support (during your taper).

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms, and there is also a section with withdrawal/taper schedules.

Please take the time to Create a Signature.  This will allow others to see where you are in the process so they can better support you.

Again, welcome!

Hello, Jim,

Welcome to BenzoBuddies, and informative and very supportive forum. It sounds like you are finding your way around, nut I will include a link to the Withdrawal section.

Withdrawing from a benzodiazepine can be quite challenging, as it may include symptoms of every part of the body and mind. You are wise to be tapering off Klonapin. It sounds as if right now you are holding your dose...? Many people do that, if symptoms become too intense.

I took Klonapin for 12 years straight, and unfortunately, went off cold turkey. I paid the price of having a severe withdrawal that lasted a long time. But - I have almost fully recovered now, and am glad I did get off this drug. I look back and see now how much it was affecting me, in so many ways.

Again, welcome to the forum - start posting, join in. Let us know how we can be of help to you in your struggles.
