Remeron 22.5.

I was on a larger dose a long while back to help reduce my anxiety. It only made things worse for me. But I am quite intolerant to SSRis and tricyclics so it doesn't surprise me that I didn't fare well on this drug. If you go up to 22 mg, then that becomes a therapeutic dose rather than a sleep aid. Some people say it helps reduce withdrawal symptoms. And they still sleep well on a higher dose rather than a normal dose as sleep aid. It's an AD so it should help you with your depression. But SSRis are more commonly used for that. If I wasn't intolerant to it, my pdoc said he would have put me on it straight away. Bets

I started remeron at 15 mg, upped it to 30, then settled at 22.5 for almost 3 years.

I took it for severe anxiety, but it is a powerful AD, and should help you.  I feel like it literally saved my life.

Builder. Did it help your depression. I'm just fearful of upping any med since my ultimate goal is to be med free. I know you had no trouble tapering off.

My problem was anxiety, but I know both from professional sources as well as people using remeron that it is powerful, effective AD.

After 3 years, I had no problem discontinuing...did a 2 week taper, then off.  No WDs at all.

Do you think you got off easy due to still being on benzos

By the time I quite remeron, I had been totally tolerant to diazepam...it had absolutely no therapeutic effect all.

Most folks find remeron very easy to withdraw from.

Can remeron be used as a sleep aid?

It is a powerful sleep aid.  Probably most effective as a sleep aid at 7.5-15 mg.day.

After I discontinued daily dosing, I still took an occasional  (maybe every 10 days, 2 weeks) dose of 3.75.  Worked very well.

Hi Satch, I am currently on Remeron, went from 45mg. to 30mg.

It is the only med that works for my insomnia,  You are on 15mg, that is basically an antihistamine, you need to go higher 30mg. would be good to start, i believe 45mg. is themost you would take.  If i were you i would give it a shot, you have nothing to lose.  Remember most antidepressant take a few weeks to take effect, not sure about Remeron.  Good luck to you, I think you will feel a lot better!

Can remeron be used as a sleep aid?

At a low dose it can be a very effective sedative. However, I would try other ways, perhaps more natural, before I would begin taking it. It seems that so many drugs these days are used for their side effects.

I'm already on 15mgs.  Just don't think I'm getting any antidepressant effect.  Also, know that most withdrawal is pretty resistant to meds anyway.  Just scared and hopeless that things are ever going to become manageable.

Thanks again

I'm taking 15 mg. and yesterday tried 22.5mg.  I was a complete zombie the next day with a very drugged up feeling, I did not like it so I'm going to stick with the 15 mg. for now.

i figured updosing would reintroduce the zombie feeling.. although, i'd rather feel that than the crushing chest pain and anxiety! i might try to up my dose to 15mg over the weekend and see how i do. what dose is appropriate for anxiety?

I had been taking the 7.5 for over a year for sleep and wasn't working any more so I upped it to 15.  It helps somewhat for anxiety, but I was hoping the 22.5 would be more effective, I may try it again.

I took 22.5 the other night, hoping it would help the anxiety.  I was a complete zombie yesterday, I couldn't do anything.  I felt very sedated and kind of depressed.  I guess it would beat high anxiety, but I need to get some things done today so last night I took the 15 and I'm fine.  It affects everyone differently.  If it was me I would try the 15 first and see how that effects you.

I'm having a major window today and now I'm wondering if it was the higher dose of Remeron I took on Monday night.....I may have to try that again.
