Please confirm what I have learned about tapering

Slow and steady wins the race.

As I cut and heal, my mind & body will improve.

Everybody's experience is different, so my taper may not be horrific just unpleasant. ( I have been doing much better lately. )

.0625 cuts every 8-10 days from Xanax is a proven method that has worked for many people.

Most doctor's don't know much at all about tapering from benzo's. Most doctor's are actually very ignorant about this topic.

Try not to obsess about the symptoms.

A positive attitude helps a lot. Even Ashton said, "  Be Confident!" " Many people are withdrawing from benzos. "

Listen to your body.

Don't let the horror stories get to you.

I will heal! I have already most likely healed, improved much.

I am determined to taper and get off Xanax even if it takes two years. I think it will be more like 6-12 months, but I am on my way.

Any other advice that you would like to add?

You have the right attitude:  Whatever it takes. I feel the same way.  Whatever and however long it takes, I am going to see this through to the end.

I am just restarting my taper from Clonazepam.  My doctor recommended and immediate 50% cut from 2 mg per day to 1.  Leery of that, I started with 25%.  Even that was a disaster!  Now I'm finishing  up my first 10% cut, as recommended on this website.  So far, I've been mostly symptom-free.

Best of luck to you.

This is basically on track.  Good job.  I would add that it is better to cut smaller and more frequently than larger and less frequently.  So for example, if you cut .0625mg and held 10 days you would be better off cutting .00625mg a day for 10 days.  Same rate, more comfort.

I'd also add there is another tapering option that you may want to consider - symptom-led daily tapering - where you find the daily cut that is within your bodies ability to handle and you stay within that.
