I can't answer this, but it would help if you specify the medication (or sort of medication) your doctor would be using....

If you are speaking about steroid injections, some people do indeed get a surge of symptoms since steroids do affect the HPA axis.  I  had a steroid injection in my shoulder when I was about 5 months off because I was preparing for a performance and needed to practice a lot. I had a torn rotator cuff and torn bicep tendon and was in a lot of pain.  I didn't have a surge of WD symptoms but I got the usual steroid effects I've had before.  Flushing and acne.

 

If you are sedated for the injection it will likely be a benzo and personally I would avoid it. I have had injections without being sedated and it's not bad at all.
