Heart really pounding and choking sensation in throat.... feels like GI but..

It's been about 22 days since I jumped from K. The first while, was really bad, but bareable in a sense. I felt a lot of dizziness and things were hard. But I could still eat and whatnot. Now, I feel like I'm waiting to die. I feel like I'm going to have a coronary anytime soon. Everything feels severely screwed up. My heart is pounding as hard as I've ever felt it, but more importantly I'm getting many many palpitations and my body feels like everything is shifting around in there. I don't know how to explain it. It seems to originate from the middle of my chest, below the sternum. I assumed it was GI issues, and started a course of Pantoloc. But neither it, nor Pepto, nor any antacid format has slowed anything down or made me feel better at all. I feel like also, from there to my throat, it's like someone has their hand on my throat and is choking me. It's not ALL the time, but it comes and gets really bad. Plus when I do anything active, I feel horrible, and that sensation plus a heartburn type sensation shows up.

I cannot eat anything much, I've been surviving mostly on Ensure and whatever little I can eat like soups, or bland stuff a little bit at a time. Even that bothers me. Could there be esophageal spasms or something happening that might be affecting the vagus nerve? I've had heart testing done last month. I do have high cholesterol, but I haven't had it for years, only since this year, so I can't imagine it would have damaged me this fast. Plus I've worked on getting it down...

Any answers? Please?

Thank you,

Roger.

I have had everything you said, it's all withdrawal. You came off a large amount of  K rather quickly and have been hit hard, I was too. My heart would pound so very hard and I had heart palps through month 15, my heart is finally calm. I also had/ have the labored breathing and closed throat, it is slowly improving. It is a manifestation of anxiety and also tense muscles. The K was a muscle relaxant and now your muscles need to learn how to relax on their own. Any GI symptoms are most likely from the drug too. I've had it all.

If it would ease your mind you may want to have your throat checked out but I been around here for 1 1/2 years and have seen that almost any symptom can be withdrawal. These drugs mess with our entire nervous system.

Just hang on, breath, rest and trust the healing process. Your body knows what to do.

I second what Hopeful wrote. I've had all those same symptoms and 22 days sounds like about the same time they started hammering me. Hang in ! I found help here, by reading some of the great success stories. It's easy to feel like it will never end. I'm in month seven and still pretty bad but WAY better than a couple of months ago. And according to all of our friends here at BB, it WILL end.

darkskywaves  ... everything you describe is very familiar to me ... and no GI meds were helpful ... some actually made the sensations worse ... it get better ... the strangle stuff still comes and goes ...

As said ... K is a muscle relaxant ... the guts will do their confusing dance until they find somewhere to settle for a while ... I use ginger tea ... sometimes helps for a while, sometimes not ...

It gets better ...
