I am in 9th week of tapering off Klonopin .125mg wafer.  I have been on Klonopin for several years.  I recently found a taper schedule in a pamphlet from the Univerisity of Montreal. The withdrawal symptoms are stunning. My immediate need is to seek a medical professional in my area who is knowledgable to help oversee the tapering, if possible, and to safely manage this process in light of other medical conditions. I am grateful to have a source of information and support

Hi Winterchild

Welcome to benzobuddies,  well done on starting your taper, you will get plenty of support here. Its recommended to taper slowly from benzodiazepines. Have you read the Ashton Manual, I will put a link here for you: “Professor Ashtons Manual” It is an authoritative resource on benzodiazepines and how to withdraw, the general rule of thumb is to reduce between 5/10% every 10/14 days

You'll find a great community of people who are here to support and encourage you. Please feel free to check out the forum and post to any of the dedicated boards

Here is a link to some benzowise doctors, I am so glad your seeking professional guidance having a medical condition http://www.benzodocs.com/

welcome  :) "stunning" is a great word! I, too, went through a horrific withdrawal so I know how awful the symptoms can be. I don't know how long you have been on Klonopin, but in my opinion a slower taper minimizes withdrawal symptoms. I don't know how quickly the taper plan you found goes, but the recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. We are here to support you during this taper. I am so glad you found us. Again, welcome.
