What are the differences between acute withdrawal and withdrawal?

There's always debate about this. I have read that acute is approximately the first 4-6 weeks after you get off a benzo. Other people have said two months. I know for me, I was acutely crazy for just over a month.

How are you doing?

How do you know when you are out of the acute withdrawal phase?

The acute phase of withdrawal is by far the worst period of withdrawal. My acute phase was nothing less than horrific. The mental torment was excruciating. However by about 5 weeks things started to get better, and another month after that my symptoms became almost manageable. So for me there was a huge contrast between acute withdrawal and regular withdrawal. The acute phase can last a few days or a few months. It is different for everyone.
