Can PAWS be Avoided?

Is it possible that after a rough taper and acute, one might NOT have to suffer through PAWS before healing? In other words, is the post-acute period something one simply cannot avoid?

Everyone's different, I cold-turkeyed, and some people who do end up with PAWS, I did not....I am improving after 7 weeks, but again that is me...I believe the majority of people do fine and so will you...thinking POSITIVE and DISTRACTING are essential to healing.

Hey pruf I think most long term users with long withdrawals,or bad withdrawals unfortunately have to go through paws for the symple fact it made adaptations or changes by the drug to our brain and body that it has to reverse. Makes sense. But I think less sensitive people or very short term users don't get it or have it very mildy atleast the first time of escape. Just my thoughts.

In a sense I would say that it can't be avoided, but that is only because I doubt that anyone just wakes up one day while in acute wd completely healed. There is usually going to be some kind of post acute period, the only question is how long it will last. There certainly are people who have a short post acute period. We just don't generally hear form them cause they don't need the kind of support that more serious cases do.

the way my mother has been tapering so slowly over the last 2 years, i would kinda doubt that she will have PAWS but i guess you never know once she finally jumps.

I see it as it depends on how healthy the person was before benzo. If they were in good shape it'll be easier for them to bounce back. If they were worn and beaten down by life circumstances, as a lot of people are when they choose to take benzos, I think they will more likely have PAWS.

Now that I think about it, how run down the person was before benzos should be factored into drug testing but it is not. So that contributes to people having a rougher time than they are 'supposed' to according to drug companies.
