Slept last night without taking a klonopin pill for the first time in over a year.  And a decent amount too -7 hours. Hell yes!  ;D

I kept my word, and with exception of some weeks where I felt very ill, I ran at 4-5 days/week at least 30 minutes each run.

Obviously it is difficult to know what my taper would be like w/o exercise, but I truly believe that the taper has been made more tolerable with running. I think it helped to preserve my sanity when I was very anxiety prone, soothe my pain, and I hope it helps set me up for success as I end my taper.

I will most definitely continue to exercise at this pace (as my health permits). The hard work does not stop here. I hope to get off Lexapro in the next coming months as well. I believe exercise is key to that too. After all, exercise is shown to be as effective as antidepressants (and more sustainable). Thank you for all you awesome people who helped me through my taper. I will continue to post in the next coming weeks as I transition out of the k-pin zone. I am sure it won't be easy as my body adjusts to life without benzos.

Much love to you all.

-LDR

Thanks,  LDR!  I truly believe your philosophy about exercise. It's the way to

Keep you focused on getting well,  a more importantly, as you stated It's our

bodies way of replenishing those "Feel  Good"  hormones that our body naturally

      produces.

I too have to taper off of an AD. Going to use liquid titration this time.

        In light and spiritual growth.

Congratulations, LDR! Your story gives me hope! After only 6 1/2 months of K I have a lot of trouble running (used to log 20 miles per week). How did you stay motivated when legs feel like jelly? I am dizzy sometimes, esp. if I can't sleep the night before. Also were you on Lexapro before or did you take it to help taper! Please let me know!

So happy for you!

I walk an hour or more every day and do some light weights at home, also a little yoga stretching. Had to force myself to do it at first because wd is so all consuming. But now I feel lots better because of it and wd is easier!

Hey SC!

Thanks for your kind words. I was on Lexapro two months before the taper. K-pin made my running much harder, my mile times were definitely not where they should have been. But frankly, I didn't really care as long as I kept moving. The days when I felt really craptastic, I didn't exercise. On days when I felt less craptastic, I would just try to do as much as I can and consider that a success - even if it's just 1 mile at a 12 min/mile pace. I also took out my anger (and sometimes despair) during my run. So it was very much a cathartic experience.

Good luck SC, you can do it!

That's awesome - baby steps are the way to go. Rock on!

Hi again, LDR,

Can I ask why you didn't do a crossover to Valium?

SC

Just not something I ever thought about. And my p-doc didn't bring it up either. I think it was probably for the best, I am so sensitive to these meds, who knows how I would have reacted to Valium.

Great job LD!!!  I'm taking 10mg of Lexapro as well and will target that once my clonazepam is toast!! Yes, nothing like exercise to keep us feeling well, both physically and emotionally.  :)
