Why do some people build tolerance quickly...

...and some people can seemingly take benzos for years?

My grandmother took Valium most of her adult life, and she was just as 'tranquilized' in her 90's as in her 30's. My Uncle (her son) took Valium for 4 months and almost went psychotic with anxiety and depression at the end of the 4 months. Why was she able to keep taking it for decades yet after 4 months he had built a massive tolerance?

I dunno. Genetics? In my case its either because I had taken them in the past, or because of the cross-tolerance with alcohol, or a combination of both. But it didn't take me long this time around lol

If our doctors knew the answer to that question, maybe we wouldn't be where we are now, going through really tough w/d. Genetics must have a lot to do with it. My sister can handle all kinds of things that I can't.
