3 year old son tappering Klonopin

What condition was your son put on clonazepam for?  I have heard of children being given this medication for seizure disorders. 

 

Due to the young age of your son it is very important for you to work with a doctor in planning and implementing a taper. We can give you some information on tapering and withdrawal but it is geared towards adults.

 

What dose of clonazepam is your son taking?

 

A good resource for information about these types of drugs is the Ashton Manual, it was written by an expert in the field.  Perhaps you can print off the pertinent information and take it to your son's doctor. I will give you a link to the manual.

 

A slow taper is necessary when withdrawing from benzos like clonazepam. The nervous system is very delicate and needs time to adjust to the reduction of the medication.  For adults here, we recommend tapering 5-10% every 10-14 days.
