I was typing and then the moving sensation started and then it almost felt like I was being pulled out of my chair  :'( of course that caused heart palps. I did not move much but I felt like I almost had to catch myself.

 

WTH! I have endured enough...balance issues, feeling like I am moving, spasms and now this!  :'( chime in please.

Something similar happened to me several times. Totally weird and scared me half to death! It went away, never to return.

Just about ANY sort of symptom can happen in benzo withdrawal - try to keep that in mind, and these things wont be as scary.

Just take it easy and be careful....and nothing will happen to you except healing. To give you an example: early in my withdrawal I was very weak, shakey, unsteady. I could barely walk. For the first two weeks, I pretty much stayed in bed, because it wasn't safe for me to be up. For you, if you feel this thing coming  on, sit down somewhere and wait it out. Hope that makes sense! Im getting tired and my old brain is a little slow.

I get pushed around a lot. I have been "pushed" down the stairs, "launched" off a toilet seat......serious force at action here! I even have held onto the leg of my bedside table because it felt like I was being pushed off the bed! I've been pulled up, pushed into the floor and feel like I am floating while laying. You are not alone in this, it is a horrific symptom and along with the boaty feeling my very worst physical symptom.

Are you having any other symptoms at this point?

Keep reminding yourself that your brain is healing, even as you feel you're being pushed, pulled and thrown around. Our brains and bodies are truly miraculous in the push to heal.

Hello - I never really talked about this particular sxs! I thought even here people would think I was CRAZY if I told of my days and nights being pulled (dragged) down my bed as planes flew over head, or being sucked down and then thrown off the toilet (and so much more). Than you to those writing on this thread and being braver than I was. Unbelievably weirdo sxs to be sure, but it does completely go away!

 

I have to add to this, when I was able to make myself go outside after a couple of months, as I would walk, the sidewalk took turns going up and down, so I never knew where to put my foot down. It must have looked pretty messed up to anyone watching me. Oh geesh, what a thing to go through.

I need to tell you - it's me who owes YOU a thank you. The thing is even after a couple of years, it still brings tremendous comfort to read a buddie's words that validate what you've gone through...even for an "old - timer" like me!

 

How could I ever tell anybody in the real world about his particular sxs? There are no "cute" words or phrases to describe it! I mean really! Pulled down on the bed? Sucked into the toilet and then hurled off of it??!!?? Come on! This is cccrraaazzzzyyyy!!

 

I have to laugh until I cry! What we are doing, have done, well, it's almost un-human! Oh my.

 

You will get over this - sooner than you think!

When I was in tolerance w/d (and didn't know it), I had frequent episodes where one leg would suddenly feel like it was sinking into the ground.  Thankfully, that's one sx that's gone!  It's very disturbing, I know, hang in there!

Hopeful-One, I'm with you!  My body is moving, rocking, swaying, pulsating 24/7.  It's the bain of my existence, because it's just so unrelenting and so disabling!!!  I don't get one second of relief.  Is yours only a perception of movement, or do you feel you actually are moving?  Something in me is actually moving, and I don't know whether it's muscle movement or muscles compressing on arteries or lord only knows.  Talk about crazy ... I often stick my fingers in my ears to try and pull them down to stop my scalp muscles from moving!  Geez!  :idiot:  I think I'm the only rocky boater with this particular sensation, I haven't come across anyone who's actually said they're really moving??!

Abcd, I'm with you......,my insides are definitely  moving. It's not perception, it's actual movement but internally. For instance, I am laying perfectly still ATM and I cannot see my outer body moving in conjunction with the inner movement so in that respect it doesn't move but it fells like my brain is swollen and moving, like my internal organs are pulsating and pushing around inside me, almost like my muscles and bones are moving too.

 

It is so very hard to put this insanity in words. I purposefully rock to avert the force because it is do powerful it is hard to be still and just "feel it" right now  it seems like I am bouncing up and down on my bed.

 

UUGHH! Sigh😝! torment! Mine is constant as well. Not a moment break in 15 months. It's a wonder we are still here and kick in'!

Yes, like my muscles and bones are moving too, that describes me.  And constantly bouncing around.  It was at least tolerable when it was just my trunk and legs, but since it's mainly in the head area now, it's a nightmare!  Mine's outwardly noticeable too, though, my whole body has a slight tremor/shiver and when my head's on the pillow, I can feel it moving and pulsating and even hear the sound of the feathers in the pillow!  I had an EMG a couple of years ago (when it wasn't this bad) and it was normal, but I can't imagine it being negative if I had it done again now.

 

I tried the rocking but if anything, it makes it worse for me.  When lying down, I'll clutch my knees up to my chest and that eases it a little.  Or I hold on to a massaging/vibrating cushion and that helps slightly, maybe you'll want to give that a try?

 

Aaaarg, is right!  Worst, worst symptom ever!!!  :o

I just developed this symptom. When I lay down at night, it feels like my bed is trying to suck me down into the floor. Hope this will pass soon.

Hi all,

 

abcd & Hopeful-One, I've been thinking about you two :) I used to coach weight loss, and alongside that I studied and purchased some books on nutrition and supplementation, as the two (healthy diets/nutrition and healthy weight) tend to go hand in hand. One if the books I purchased is laid out similarly to a medical digest, listing in A-Z format many of the common (and some uncommon) ailments, and lists supplemental recommendations and dosages as well as dietary and lifestyle modifications that one could implement in order to heal their bodies (the book is called "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" by Balch). Anyways, I was thinking about you both, and thought I would look up what the book had to say regarding vertigo & other similar issues. I thought I'd post what I found in this thread, in case you were interested. Since it recommends certain supplements at certain doses and such, I will also mention that I am unsure if any if these recommendations will work to help alleviate your bodily-boaty-movement sensation symptoms. I also have not checked to see if any of these recommendations are "benzo withdrawal safe", lol -- that's not to say that they aren't safe, I'm just letting you know that I haven't checked it myself :)

 

I know that many BBuddies have a variety of opinions and experiences regarding supplements, and yes, there is a 'balance' to consider when introducing anything new. However, it is my own personal opinion and belief that, if done properly, supplementation can often be life-giving, and even life-saving in some cases.  I know that many believe this can be done with diet alone, but it is my personal opinion and belief that supplementing may provide more benefit than not. I would encourage you to do some research of your own regarding this subject matter of course, and also encourage that you don't just take my 'word' for it. It is fascinating to learn about! To me, anyways :) Also, with any supplements or medicinal changes, it may be considered advisable to consult with your physician before making any sort of changes or adding anything new, if course :)

 

The digest mentions that "vertigo [and other like ailments and sensations] occurs when the central nervous system receives conflicting messages from the inner ears, eyes, muscles, and skin pressure receptors." So the goal of many of the supplements recommended is to help the central nervous system's ability to communicate and transmit its data more effectively and smoothly, as well as aid the receptors to receive and transmit data without a loss of clarity, efficiency, and fidelity. The recommendations are as follows, below, in order of importance as rated by the digest:

 

"Very important"

1.) Dimethylglycine (or, DMG) (recommended brand to purchase: Aangamik DMG from FoodScience of Vermont: take as directed on label. Action: Increases oxygen supply to the brain.

 

2.) Vitamin B Complex: 100mg of each major B vitamin 3 times daily, with meals (amounts of individual vitamins in a complex will vary). Action: B vitamins are necessary for normal brain and central nervous system function. Consider injections (under a doctor's supervision) for better absorption. If injections are not available, use sublingual (or, chewable) forms.

***PLUS: extra vitamin B3: 100mg 3 times daily. Do not exceed this amount. Action: Improves cerebral circulation and lowers cholesterol. CAUTION: Do not take niacin if you have a liver disorder, gout, or high blood pressure.

***AND: Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine): 50mg daily

***AND Vitamin B12: 1,000-2,000mcg daily. A sublingual form is recommended.

 

3.) Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids: 3,000-10,000mg daily, in divided doses. Action: antioxidants that also improve circulation.

 

4.) Vitamin E: 200IU daily. Action: Improves circulation. Use d-alpha-tocopherol form.

 

 

"Important"

1.) Choline and Inositol: take as directed on label, 3 times daily. Action: Necessary in nerve function. Help to prevent hardening of the arteries and improve brain function.

***AND/OR: Lecithin: take as directed on label.

 

2.) CoEnzyme Q10: 100-200mg daily. Action: Improves circulation to the brain.

***PLUS: Coenzyme A (use Coenzyme-A Technologies form): take as directed on label. Action: Works well with coenzyme Q10 to support the immune system's detoxification of many dangerous substances.

 

3.) Vitamin A with mixed carotenoids including natural beta-carotene: 10,000IU daily. Action: enhances immunity and acts as an antioxidant.

 

4.) Zinc: 30mg daily. Do not exceed a total of 100mg daily from all supplements. Action: Promotes a healthy immune system and helps maintain vitamin E levels. Use zinc gluconate lozenges or OptiZinc for best absorption.

 

"Helpful"

1.) Brewer's yeast: 1/2 tspn daily for 3 days, then increase to 1 tbsp daily. Action: contains balanced B-vitamins.

 

2.) Calcium: 1,500mg daily. Action: important in maintaining regular nerve impulses.

***AND: Magnesium: 750mg daily. Action: To help prevent dizziness.

 

3.) Kelp: 1,000-1,500mg daily. Action: for necessary balanced minerals and vitamins.

 

4.) Melatonin: 1.5-5mg daily, taken 2 hours or less before bedtime. Action: helps to maintain equilibrium.

 

5.) Multivitamin and mineral complex: take as directed on label. Action: for necessary balance of vitamins and minerals.

 

Notes on herbs:

--Ginger relieves dizziness and nausea.

--Gingko biloba improves circulation and improves brain fiction by increasing the supply of oxygen to the brain. Take 120mg of gingko bilobate extract daily. (Mrs's Note: I would encourage you to read the gingko biloba thread here on BBuddies to learn more about supplementing gingko for the benzo withdrawaler)

 

Recommendations:

--Avoid making rapid or extreme movements and rapid changes in body position.

--Limit your total sodium intake to about 2,000mg per day. Too much sodium can disrupt the workings of the inner ear.

--Avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and all fried foods.

--To subdue dizziness, sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and stare at a fixed object for a few minutes.

 

 

I hope this information is something interesting at the very least for all those who experience equilibrium symptoms :) Feel free to 'take it or leave it' so to speak, of course :) Love to you, and you are healing for sure!

Hi Mrs, nice to "see" you again.  Wow, I can't believe you took the time to write that all out for all of us!  Thank you SOOO much, I find this gesture very moving, particularly as you're not even suffering from this sx yourself!  Thank you again for such generosity of spirit!  :hug:

 

Speaking for myself, I have tried many different supplements along the way, but nothing that even touched my particular sx, as I wouldn't even describe it as a vertigo, it's more neuromuscular for me, if anything.  I'm going to give it a good read and look into it more though, some I'd never heard of, eg DMG looks interesting.

abcd, the term "vertigo" is used loosely, but it refers to many sensations that are of a CNS signal firings origin, including: dizziness, spinning, rocking, boaty-feelings, pulling/swaying to left or right, pulling down or up, moving/swishing sedation, contraction sensations, etc. So it may or may not apply to your particular situation, but it was broader than what most people define as "vertigo" when they feel a dizzy sensation.

 

I an getting better and better all the time -- its a neat feeling when a new level of healing arises each time it happens :) Freedom at a hiigher level :)

Mrs, what good information as always!  Glad to hear you are improving.  :) 

 

I have this symptom too.  I have severe intermittent ear pain as well,  Do any of you guys have it?  I was just wondering how much the ear pain has to do with the off balance issue.  I have been to an ENT and they can't find anything wrong with my ears.  He told me I could have the ENG test.  I'm not keen on putting myself through that if the ear pain, dizziness, pushing, feeling of being pulled is coming from withdrawals. The test doesn't sound too pleasant.  I don't find many on here who have alot of ear pain.

 

I find sitting on the toilet or stools is far worse than sitting in a chair, feeling like I will be launched off.
