First time on BenzoBuddies

A chain of events brought me here -- reading about studies regarding benzos and Alzheimer's, trying to get off Ativan and having bad results. Then I researched benzos and came to this site eventually. I'm a 60-year old female and have taken Ativan for 12 years -- given to me as an anti-nausea during chemo. I found it helped me sleep, so the doc kept giving it to me. So that was .5 MG five or so nights a week, cut in half. Ths year, I've been taking more of the entire pill. I decided to stop 2 weeks ago so went without for four days -- experienced severe heart palpitations and high blood pressure. So went to ER, got meds for high blood pressure. Now been talking with my doctor who is not informed about this. I'm trying to figure out how to taper.
