Endocrinologist?

Has anyone seen an endocrinologist for increased coritsol/stress hormone production?  If so, was it beneficial at all?  What tests did the run and was there anything that was prescribed that proved helpful?

 

I suspect my HPA axis releases excess cortisol causing morning anxiety and early morning waking.  That said, I'm not sure what an endocrinologist could do about it and whether that would be in my interest to tamper with it as it attempts to reregulate itself.
