Having fears about crossing over from a klonopin tablet to klonopin syrup

Hi :) I am new to the forum. I take .75 mgs klonopin a day. My doctor allowed me to get it compounded into a syrup so I could taper it 1-5% at a time. My pharmacist is awesome and even gave me her cell number if I had questions. I am having a hard time switching from the klonopin tablets to the syrup and have been having panic attacks. I texted my pharmacist and she promised me it was the exact same medication, without the biding and fillers, just suspended in a liquid. I know this is the same med at the same dose, but I feel so freaked out. Has anyone struggled making the crossover from pill to liquid? If so, how did you calm and reassure yourself during the process. Is the fear I'm feeling "normal"? Thanks so much.

Many people experience an uptick in symptoms when changing from a dry dose to a liquid dose.  It's important not to reduce one's dose during the period the body is getting accustomed to the liquid.  We generally recommend a decent hold, (just like when we reduce a dry dose), during this time.  In fact a switch from dry to liquid for the purpose of a benzo taper is generally considered a cut.  I'd hold on a full dose of the liquid for 8-14 days to allow my body to become accustomed to the new delivery system.

I calmed myself by distraction.  Anything to take my mind off of my symptoms for as long as possible.

Welcome to the forum!!
