I was put on Klonopin 3 months ago and quit on my own 5 days ago.  I was on 1 mg daily and told by prescribing doctor that it was not addicting.  I should have known better but wanted to believe that with the low dose I would not have withdrawal symptoms.  My doctor stated I wouldn't.  After reading about this drug online, wish I would have before I started taking it, I decided to stop taking it. My doctor wanted to keep me on it long term.  I thought because I was on a .5 mg dose 2 times a day for only a few months that I could go down to one pill a day for a few days and then half a pill for a few days.  I got rid of the rest and went cold turkey 5 days ago.  I will tell you I am suffering.  I just need support and to know that I am not alone.

I wanted to add that the withdrawals have been terrible after taking daily for 3 months.  I am grateful to be getting off this drug and am sorry to anyone who has been on it longer and at a higher dose.  I am in pain and sick I can't imagine what would have happened if I listened to the doctor. I am 45 and have only had to withdrawal off of nicotine in the past (quit smoking in 2006) that was hell as well but I knew it was coming this has thrown me for a loop.  My symptoms have included after 5 days off the Klonopin:

Worst headache ever

Blurred vision

sick to my stomach

going to the bathroom all the time

sweating

heavy breathing

can't sleep at night

joint pain and musle pain

disorientation

tingling in my fingers

feel like something is crawling on me

sensitive to sounds and light

have been craving to smoke and haven't done that in years

Welcome fellow cold turkey buddy! It sure isn't easy, but people that cold turkey do make full recoveries :)  about 5.5 weeks in and have had bouts of near normality. Just gotta hang in there day by day. Best thing you can do for yourself is remain positive. You, like many others, will get through this! :)

Thank you for your encouragement and support.  I had an ok night and acturally slept a few hours.  This morning was scary woke up and was dizzy had a hard time walking and can only describe the headache as a brain ache. My husband had to talk me through it.  I got up and took some Ibuprofen and had a cup of coffee and remembered some of the posts I read on here. I am so glad I found this site or I would think I was going crazy or dying.  I have never experienced what I have went through this week in my life.  If I would have known I would have never taked a benzo.  Thank you and I know we can get through this.  I am just glad to know I am not alone or crazy.
