Need help after meeting with a new doc who says 4 mg Ativan is a no no. Need to taper as I've been on benzo for 25 years!

Hello flyingsolo, and welcome to the forum.  We're glad you found us!  Many of our members have found themselves in a similar position to yours for various reasons, and though it may be difficult at first, getting off benzos is definitely doable.  Tapering slowly is the key.  Here are a few useful links:

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms, and there is also a section with withdrawal/taper schedules.
