Ready to beat the benzos'

I joined because I want to get off the benzos. I have been taking lorazepam for over five years. I took them for anxiety when going through a divorce. I would take one to two initially, twice a day. Three years ago I was given two milligrams three to four times a day for nausea while in the hospital. I started using two to four milligrams to help me sleep. When that no longer worked, my doctor added 15 milligrams of Temazepam. It worked for a while and. Am finding the need to increase the dose for continued sleep. I really want to start to taper and get off these benzos for good. I look forward to hearing how people were able to beat this habit.

I am so glad you found us. I too was on a large dose of Ativan. It sounds like you have reached tolerance where the dose you once took no need longer works. You have been on large doses for many years. In my opinion given your dose that you will want to do a slow careful taper to minimize withdrawal symptoms.

 

You might like to check out The Ashton Manual it is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms,.
