Quick Intro

I've been reading the forums now for the last few months as I deal with coming off benzos.

Had my first panic attack on 2/12/14 and was put on Omeprazole for bad acid reflux.  During the 2 1/2 weeks I took it, I got all kinds of weird symptoms: shooting pains, stomach cramps, severe anxiety, among others.  Was given Ativan to sleep, but advised to switch to Zoloft after a few days to avoid addiction.  After 3 days on Zoloft,  I developed violent, racing thoughts and really felt like I lost it, so my wife took me to the ER.  Primary switched me back to 0.5 mg Ativan halved in morning and night doses.

After 3 weeks I started to feel sick around 5 PM each day (inter-dose withdrawal) and when I tried to stop it in 2 days, got the biggest brain fog and felt really sick.  Took .25 mg and everything cleared up.  So started my adventure in benzos,  tapers, reinstatements, and wx that I've read a lot about here.

I'm 8 weeks off now, and as of 2 weeks ago, have been woken up every few nights by severe bad shaking that has sent me to the ER on 3 different occasions.  Of course, all tests have come back normal and the doctors are baffled or dismissive of my weird "anxiety symptoms."

Hi kiryu69,

Welcome to BenzoBuddies.

I was on clonazepam for a few years so I know how tough benzo withdrawal can be.

I usually recommend specific boards to visit for people who join BenzoBuddies but it sounds like you have been around for awhile so you are probably familiar with the boards. Now that you are a member I am sure you have plenty of questions and comments so feel free to post on any of the boards when you are ready.

Are you familiar with The Ashton Manual? It is great resource for anyone who is withdrawing from benzodiazepines.

Also, when you get a chance it would be helpful for you to create a signature line so other members are able to provide support based upon your situation. Click here when you are ready to create your signature.

Again, welcome aboard!
