Tapering off Xanax Using Sand Paper?

[sa...]

Recommended Posts

I am at .5 mg in the morning, .25 in the early afternoon, . 25 late afternoon/early evening and .5 at bedtime.

I want to do the .0625 cuts every 1-2 weeks starting with my bedtime dose and then my morning does to eventually get to . 25 for all 4 doses.

Eventually I would like to get to . 0625 for all fours doses and then go from there.

But I only have a month supply of .5 pills and am thinking that I can start by sandpapering off as close to .0625 or 1/8 of a .5 pill until I get to the .25 pills in a month. I will then ask my doctor for just .25 pills until I am done.

I know it would not be exact, but at least a start. I can maybe even eventually sand paper off til I get to close to.25 and then start to just cut the .5's in half.

Any advice, thoughts and opinions are very much appreciated!

I'd like to help but I don't know if what I did will help you.  You may be more sensitive to cuts than I was.

When I was on 1.5mg, I only had .5 tablets.  I found that I could move my dosing times and amounts around fairly easily as long as I stayed within the 1.5 for 24 hours.  Not everyone can do that so I'm not telling you to try it, just telling you what worked for me.

So I had three .5mg tablets to work with at that point.  I would break each one in half and have six halves for 24 hours.  I could take them pretty much when I needed them most as long as they were evenly spaced as far as hours... no more than 8 hours in between doses... and I could take a half or two halves depending on how I was feeling...just couldn't go over the six halves in 24 hours.

Make any sense?  As I say, I was perhaps more tolerant to changes like this than most.
