Ativan, lamictal, prozac

[...]

Recommended Posts

I'm in a complicated position of having started to taper off Ativan but also recently begun prozac (20mg) and lamictal 50 mg (as an augment to the prozac). I'm not keen on the lamictal. Since all this, I've felt dizzy, nausea (at mid-day and to late afternoon), big lack of sleep, occasional big panic attacks, some lower gastric distress. I'm tempted to stop the lamictal today and see what happens - only been on it about 3 weeks. Anyone experienced with this combo? I'm listening to my body and wish I could differentiate the possible different side effects. Others have told me that benzos can cause all kinds of effects as you come off them.

I worry I'm going insane sometimes. Don't know if it's the meds or my life right now but feeling total lack of purpose and direction. Very tight, wrapped up in myself. All I do is focus on my medical and psych issues and feeling frozen in place. Don't know if this makes sense. Just once more trying to find people to identify with. And don't want to be obsessing about all this.

Hola,

I take  Lorazepan 0.5  twice a day,  but I don't feel good,  Most of the time I got symptoms,  specially chess pain,  sometimes I feel good except for the little chess pain.

Did your symptoms include chess pain and  going to the ER??  please help me

I been told that Lorazepan (ativan) its only for panic attacks , and last few hours,    yesterday I went to ER  for heart beat elevation,  they rule My heart is OK,

Thanks

Hi Tex,

I don't know how to answer except that you should keep checking with your doctor. Sounds like you have some other health issues going on.

There's an ativan/lorazepam discussion and support area here http://www.benzobuddies.org/forum/index.php?topic=44903.0 but it sounds like you're not trying to taper off the lorazepam yet? Lorazepam is indeed for panic and other things but isn't supposed to be used for too long or you might become addicted to it. Once addicted, it's hard to get off this med.

I went to the ER last year for panic and chest pain last year too. The panic caused the chest pain. It was terrifying.

I was on K and lamictal at the same time. 400 mg of it. It did nothing to relieve my anxiety, so my pdoc dropped it 100 mg every week. I felt I went into depression hell and barely left my bed for a month, as I was so depressed. Once I got off it, I was fine. I will never touch that drug again. ~~ Bets
