usually if it's really large doses of benzo's and someone has been on them for many years, then sometimes one can have protracted symptoms like myself. most of the time if someone hasn't been on the benzo's for very long, they can heal up within the 6-18 month time frame.

I think you need to chill your mind... I get that it's hard but I've seen like 8 of your posts all along the same lines. I've been where you're at.. I referred to google wayyy too much & brought on a lot of mental anguish due to it. Instead of focusing on what you can't do, focus on what you can. Instead of focusing on all you're missing out.. Focus on how much stronger you're becoming... & don't visit pages like the protracted forum that will trigger you... Tell your family & friends you don't want their advice about what's going on in your body & let go of what the doctors, etc have said- most just don't know. I hope you have some windows that will show you without a doubt this is w/d. During my windows I feel all the hope & excitement for life that I felt before w/d. & as for CT & longer healing- it's different for everyone. Try to rest in the knowledge that you're healing... & it takes time. In the mean time for goodness sake avoid things that trigger your panic!!! Giving up google & ignoring people who tried to tell me this isn't withdrawal was the BEST thing I've done.

So after 18 months is considered protracted right pretty daisies?

IML,

well, for some reason on this forum it kinda goes without saying that if someone is over 18 months out - they're considered protracted.

but Una Corbett who runs the Bataid/org.

http://www.bataid.org/contact.aspx

she has worked with thousands of benzo sufferers and is located in the UK just like Bliss Johns. Una actually says that one shouldn't really consider themselves "protracted" until 5 years or over. so in essence, she does not even consider one to be protracted until the 5 year mark. which some people don't really understand and get scared by that notion, i actually think it's a really great sign that one shouldn't consider themselves protracted for that long amount of time. so she believes that one is healing all during that time frame. it's a good thing but yes, 5 years is a long time. hope i made myself clear. :)

*one is not protracted until 5 years or over, according to Una.

I hear people say alot about how pink the flowers are after withdrawal. In other words, if you were having problems mentally, physically or spiritually before taking these pills, some acceptance of what reality might be afterwards is in order. I have had great windows even on the pills before tolerance withdrawal was hit. Just keep up with a journal and document what you feel is "protracted". List the protracted symptoms you believe are so in one column and symptoms that have gotten better that are not protracted. I need to do this myself. My main symptom is with digestive balance and having enough water in the colon. So that is always going to be protracted since I had IBS before benzos and need to consistently be aware of digestive balance.

PK, my guess is someone who ct's has to deal with worse symptoms over the course of the same time then one who is tapering.  So for my first 14mths of tapering  my sxs would be more mild and then my clock starts for the protracted countdown.  I am 20mths tapper included.  That sounds a lot worse than 6.  Hang in there!

Yes i have had teeth pain in waves.  Fun fun fun!
