So my taper had got thrown off from surgery. I was having nausea so when I went to the doc I ask for phenergan. I mean helps nausea plus get in some extra sleep. Sounded great to me.  :D

So I take it for about a week and a half. In the beginning it was all good. Then I started getting worse. Heart palps, anxiety at night. I was like what is happening? Will my central nervous system never get back to normal?

Finally noticed my heart started racing after I took the phenergan. Got to researching it and come to find out it is promethazine. An older anti-psychotic Medicine that they found helps nausea. Anti-psychotics are listed on the Ashton manual as meds that make your withdrawal symptoms worse.

So I stopped taking it and I'm feeling better. Will I never learn? :tickedoff:

I actually bought me some ginger root tea. I tried it. I'm not sure if it helped as my CNS was still hyped up from the phenergan. Haven't tried it lately. I did read about it and got it though. I've got 6 or 7 boxes I ordered from amazon....so I sure hope it helps.

Plumrose,

I was sort of half kidding ... I am sorry for your bad experience.

Coming back to old remedies, I was in fact thinking to a more rudimentary experiment. I usually buy fresh ginger root, cut it in small pieces and boil it - let's say two spoons of root for a liter of water. I call that ginger tea  :D

It is great for when you have a cold  or upset stomach. I stay away from the commercial brands. This way it is cheaper and healthier. You can add a little honey when  the tea is cold, maybe some lemon juice too ...
