What is 10% of 1.5 mg Xanax?

I am confused. I heard that I should cut .0625 percent every 8-10 days or so, wait until I stabilize before pre-cut level and then make another .0625 cut.

But I also read that the cuts should be no more than 10% and as I , hopefully, get closer to .5 mg the cuts may be less than .0625 percent?

What is 10% of 1.5 mg and how would this translate to cutting the pills? I am currently taking 1.5 mg a day spread out at  different times.

.5 am. .25 early afternoon, .25 late afternoon/early evening and .5 at bedtime.

I thought I knew, now I am confused.

Please help! Advice would be greatly appreciated.

From 1.5mg to zero, I simply quartered .25mg tablets and dropped a quarter of a .25, (..0625mg), every 8 to 14 days or so.  I used a pill cutter to cut my pills after breaking them in half with my fingers, at the score line. - Juliea

Is .0625 10% of 1.5 mg? What do I do when I get closer to let's day 1 mg? Same or would it be different when I get to lower doses?

saul43, 10% of 1.5 = .15.  So a cut of .125mg would be an even cut to make that would be slightly less than 10%.  But I would not cut this amount.  I would cut the .0625mg instead.  This is a much more conservative cut.  I was making .125mg cuts just above this level and got some really severe withdrawal symptoms.  When I adopted the .0625 cut, this turned my taper around.  I was able to continue cutting .0625 all the way to zero.  Good luck.

Weekends are slow.  Hopefully some more buddies will chime in when they see your post.

10% of 1.5 mgs. would be 1.35 mgs.

1.35 mgs. divided by 3 doses would make it .45 mgs. per dose.

Don't know if that's just typo, or an actual error.

10% of 1.5 is .15.

But...if you cut 10% from 1.5, then your new dose would be ...1.35!  (1.5 X 90% = 1.35.)

Thanks everyone! This helps out I appreciate it.  :)

It sounds like many people cutting from Xanax use the .0625 cutting method right?

Weird, when I do 1.5 minus 10% on my computer it gives me 1.35, but when I do 1.5 minus 5 % out of curiosity it gives me 1.425 which seems more than 1.35?

I will talk to my doctor about cutting at .0625.

Saul, 1.35 minus 10% is a greater cut than 1.35 minus 5%, so it's right.  A 5% cut would be less taken off the pill, so it would leave more on the pill.
